Not seen many MD90s at NCL before, the only one I remember being an AMC of Egypt flying on behalf of Helios.

Looks like Newcastle Airport are actively trying to get direct flights to New York.

And a hint that easyJet are to base another aircraft soon.

Rather not have any more flights to the good ol US of A than we have currently. Stops the yanks dictating the security arrangements and makes everybody's lives a little easier

according to the latest "Airliner World" magazine talks are ongoing between the airport and CSA Czech Airlines, Eastern Airways, EuroManx and Flybe for the launch of new routes later this year plus, of course the next Easyjet aircraft.

I've heard the Malta flights with BritishJet are to be operated by a Flight line B733.

HLX Stuttgart

Has disappeared from the boards today, I know last week a similar situation occurred with the newcastle departures boards stating that a VLM flight was due to depart to London City at 6.30am.

Rumour has it that this was a mistake by the airport and that VLM had applied for slots for these times and these slots were put on the boards by mistake, only a suggestion but maybe the same situation here for HLX? Possible watch out for Stuttgart flights beginning for the winter season?

Cheers

Kev

Helios Scheduled?

Any more details on scheduled Helios service?

I know they operate charter service to LCA every saturday but wasn't aware of scheduled service! Its about time we had a regular service to Cyprus.

Does anyone know if BritishJet's MLA is a scheduled service also? It is operated using leased Hello MD90, as is rest of their UK departures. Will this new competitor push Air Malta into operating regular scheduled services to the island in place of just charters?

Its great that loads of rumours regarding new charter and scheduled service are flying round,

OK to PRG
Eastern/VLM to LCY
Eastern to NWI
EuroManx to LCY
HLX to STR
New York
The rumoured Flybe routes
New EZY services
there was once rumours of Warsaw, Krakow and Scandinavia too,

but lets hope the terminal and ramp can handle it. Ques are quite often horrendous, particularly at weekends during the summer season! Terminal 3 anyone????

Air Malta have already changed the NCL service to scheduled once a week.
We only have one terminal here at NCL so terminal three is a long way off. A few stands would be nice, but we should get a few more built this winter.

Divide all the airlines up between the two different check in areas and rename them halls 1 and 2. Place signs outside each hall with lists of airlines held in each. Would simplify things....possibly.

Shame about BritishJet, thought it was a wee bit sus. Maybe now KM will begin a conveniently timed, year round service to MLA.

Heres some other ideas for routes that could possibly work, maybe not daily but for some, atleast twice weekly.

TLV/ATH/OSL/FRA/VCE/NAP/MAD/FAO/ZRH/ORK/SNN/TLS

Maybe even a ZOOM Canada service. TS seem to do well with their summer YYZ route.

What NCL needs is a greater choice of winter destinations, maybe to Carribbean, Canada and more euro city break places to compliment the ususal stuff to Canaries and North Africa.

What aircraft stand problem are we concerned about? I use the airport on a regular basis & it is seldom anywhere near full. Early mornings busy perhaps!
I was on the BA1334 yesterday afternoon & at 17.30 (it was late !) other than the BA757 there were only 3 other aircraft to be seen on the terminal side of the airfield , the Channel Express Frieght 737 & a 748 & one EZY 737.
The thing that hacks me off as a regular user is that if I'm not flying BA then seldom is NCL able to provide anything "third world" access to aircraft. What a fine first impression to the North East.
Seems to me that for too long the airport has an attitude problem to airstairs and simply can't or wont pay for their introduction, the reason being that BA have preferential access to the only two available is that they paid for their installation!
I asume that any US airline considering NCL would also note this fact.

I think you will see some of your wish list over the next year or so......
More flights to Canada could do very well, like you say seats on TSC can and are bought very cheaply, yet are not advertised as they can be sold so easily! with a little effort a second flight could be possible.

Charter companies seem to hate long haul in the winter from NCL, yet the Orlando always seemed to do well but was always cut for most of the winter - Just when you wanted to go some where hot? We've had no winter long haul (apart from shake ya leg) this winter!

Now Emirates to Dubai ..... that would be nice.

City breaks? We have loads at the moment!

Skyman771...
i totally agree with your comments RE the use of jetties... NCL only have 2, and they charge a fee per turnaround for the use of this and not many airline pay it, the usual airlines are BA, BY and MYT every now and then.
However as regards to ur comment about the stand.. while i agree in the winter its dead, however summer is a different matter, especially the weekend, i used to work for an airline and we quite often got remote stands, and ive even seen us have to wait for about 10 mins to get a stand full stop!

A wait of 10 minutes for a stand of ANY type, you must surely have been unlucky. Still this would appear to often be the norm these days on a very early morning arrival as at say LHR.

Funny someone just mentioned DXB as a possible route. Seems to me this is perhaps more of a medium term probability than a US scheduled service. Was out in Dubai recently & the growth rate in everything there from general construction, to airport terminal construction through to Emarites fleet expansion is totally phenomenal.... All in the cause of an effort to replace oil with tourism.
Now all these extra aircraft will have to generate revenue from new destinations and a 7 hour flight on an A330 DXB -NCL has to be a future practical possibility. The traffiic volume to the UK must be there already when you have 3 London, a Manchester & and a Birmingham departure all within 90 minutes most mornings.
Now when the tourist capacity increases by as much as fourfold, as IT WILL over the next 5 years then all these extra tourists are going to have to come from somewhere......

I suppose potential new charter destinations could include Taba, Hurghada or Luxor in Egypt, some new Greek destinations (perhaps ATH reinstated), Goa, Barbados etc

The airport has made some silly mistakes lately.

A VLM London City flight has been on the departure/ arrival board 3 times (Maybe more, I've only seen it three times). It has also been on the baggage reclaim.

It appears that HLX are planning to operate Stuttgart as it was on the arrival and departure boards last night. This obviously suggests that HLX have applied for slots!
