'If DSA had no lo-co I would have no beef', what's the problem with LCC carriers then?
'personally I couldn't give a flying f**k for lo-co', yes you do, you said so above..
'they damage the environment', please provide data to substantiate this claim, Ryan and easy for example have invested significant amounts of money in new fleets with better economics and reduced environmental impact, than many of the older 'traditional airlines' with older aircraft.
'create mayhem with pax and their pax create mayhem', really? how so? if they were such a big problem then loco's would not survive, people would vote with their wallets and bums.
'plus the lo-co's p*ss off the sheduled, not for financial reasons', really?, how?
. ERGO Scheduled service paying full or near full landing fee has to queue behind EZEAIR who pay next to f**k all.!! Well perhaps you'll provide more substance to this claim. If a loco can do a deal that undercuts its competitors, then the competitors need to pull their socks up, You'd have to ask why a traditional airline has not been able to cut the same deal? Its interesting you use the phrase scheduled, what are Ryan, easy,BMI etc if not 'scheduled'?
I'm also interested if BMI/easy/Ryan said yup we'll fly from HUY, if you had the casting vote, would you turn them away?, and if so why?

If there's money on the table, no self respecting business person is going to leave it there for someone else to take.
I'd rather not have any corporate welfare, but what is going on up north is infinitely preferable to what is going on round here, where Warwick District council continue their fruitless case against CVT, wasting millions of theirs and general tax payers' money in the process, not to mention the financial losses to the companies concerned.
Whoever's paying the bill, the ROI on putting a passenger terminal on a disused airbase who's runway was only recently surfaced has to be pretty reasonable, and ditto for adding terminals next to runways which are already well utilised for numerous other aviation activities.
This all has to be phenominally more cost effective than the new runways proposed for STN, BHX etc.
If the politicians are going to go round spending cash, it is better that they are doing so prudently. The same cannot be said for what is going on round here, nor can it be said for many other European road & rail projects which seem to be grossly disproportionate to their likely levels of usage.

As the Big Day approaches, just wanted to say "Good Luck RHDS!" Hope the doom mongers eat their tiny little black hearts out. RHDS has the potential to be a really big player. The progress that has been made in the last couple of months is stunning. I trust everything goes well on opening day - and don't let it get hijacked by Bl**dy politicians during election time, any of whom would have stopped everything dead in its tracks if they thought there was a vote in it for themselves.
Once again good luck

DW,
I am told that Thursday will be politician free, but that there might be an "official opening" later in the year.
This is probably a good thing, as I really think it would have been a bit of a cheek of someone like Mr Darling to turn up, after his government have done everything possible to put pointless obstacles in the way of TOM's operations here at CVT.
I'm sure Terry could comment further, but I understand that local politicians have actually been quite supportive of this one, helped by the massive "Yes" campaign.

We had the usual "dignatories on the 2 flights yesterday, including some who never lifted a finger in support of the airport. I guess this was inevitable. Don't know what height, and there was complete cloud cover, but we were told we were going over the North Sea and return. A great cheer went up as the aircraft took off,and I have to say it was a very emotional time for me,after just less than 9 years of campaigning. A lot has happened to me,personally, during the campaign, including my wife passing away. Mary worked on the camp for 18 years, until the last day of the RAF,and would have been overjoyed,as she loved her job and the people she worked with.
Thanks to all of you who have been supportive, and my good wishes to those who have not. Who knows who is right, and we all have our opinions.

I guess to balance out the rubbish that the 'anti' mob come up with.
I saw Lord Kirkham on the news yesterday having a go at the place, which just strengthened my view never to buy anything from his DFS dump.
