If there's money on the table, no self respecting business person is going to leave it there for someone else to take.
I'd rather not have any corporate welfare, but what is going on up north is infinitely preferable to what is going on round here, where Warwick District council continue their fruitless case against CVT, wasting millions of theirs and general tax payers' money in the process, not to mention the financial losses to the companies concerned.
Whoever's paying the bill, the ROI on putting a passenger terminal on a disused airbase who's runway was only recently surfaced has to be pretty reasonable, and ditto for adding terminals next to runways which are already well utilised for numerous other aviation activities.
This all has to be phenominally more cost effective than the new runways proposed for STN, BHX etc.
If the politicians are going to go round spending cash, it is better that they are doing so prudently. The same cannot be said for what is going on round here, nor can it be said for many other European road & rail projects which seem to be grossly disproportionate to their likely levels of usage.
