Jamex, we the English have, as you have said, graciously conceeded defeat.

Perhaps you might learn some lessons on gloating and living up to the stereotype of South Africans being abhorrantly arrogant when it comes to sport. (re. your last post)

Well, this does'nt just take the cake, it takes the whole bakery!! This started out as a light-hearted, humerous, celebration of the Springboks RWC win. You, Southcoast, chose to whinge, whine and carry on like a petulant brat! Read your previous posts. Whenever the poms get beaten at anything, which happens more often than not, the other side is "arrogant"! Michael Schumacker was "arrogant" for winning all those races AND championships, the Aussies were "arrogant" for not just conceding the Ashes to England and so the list goes on and on. Whenever an England sporting side loses at anything, the accusation of arrogance on the part of the other side gets taken out, brightly polished and press-ganged back into use by England supporters. This is becoming somewhat irritating, boring, childish and so predictable. The fact of the matter is the world owes England nothing. No-one will roll over and play dead just so you can win. The sun has set on the British Empire and no amount of crying is going to change that. No amount of pictures taken well before the ball was grounded will change the fact the toes were at least on the line and the ball was therefore out of play and the try will not be awarded. The William Webb Ellis trophy is coming to South Africa. For the record, I did not say you graciously conceded anything, I asked you to graciously concede. If you had, you would have allowed us to enjoy the win and you would not have been so quick to try and rain on our parade. I would be amongst the first to congratulate England and their supporters should they win RWC 2011 in NZ. Something you were not big enough to do, Sir.

You are truely a fool.

Perhaps you should read what I wrote earlier:

Hey Jamex...
Yes, you won, congrats.

Thats the difference between us, you would be whining like you wouldnt believe if it had been the other way round, probably claiming racism.
**was a joke at the new South Africa**

We accept it, I am not 100% sure one way or the other if it was a try, but either way, nothing will change the facts this morning.

But bear one thing in mind, you will not have Jake White, half your team is going to play in Europe as of the coming season and will probably never play as the same team again, your rugby/sport is rotten with politics and from being world champs, there is only one way to go...(ask England)
**making fun of England winning the previos World Cup, only to fall from grace to loosing to everyone**

Also, not an excuse, a fact. You guys played good rugby throughout the competition, but you had only 2 games against a recognised team, both those games were against England.
**thought the above statement was praising of SA, and a fact of your route to the final**

The top half of the competition had New Zealand, Australia, England and France in it, your half had, SA, Argentina, Fiji and ...(cant remember who it was, Scotland perhaps- but that just goes to show) a much easier route to the final.

I know that is luck of the draw and we would all rather the easier route to the final, but not even I claim England has been near a competetive side since the last World cup final, so I think you can thank your lucky stars it was against England in the final and not France or NZ.
**just the truth**

So, on reflection, you are worthy winners and you should be proud and enjoy it, but arrogance is not a pleasant traite.
**praise for SA again**

My next post...

ha ha ha...

bathtub, your last comment let me know who you are.

i didnt realise you were only 47 though, that was agenuine surprise.

to round it off, looks like the englishman in the final of the snooker is also about to lose to a guy from hong kong!
**taking the p*ss out of ourselves for loosing at something else**

at least we had an empire and we will always be your imperial masters...

Then you said...

This started out as a light-hearted, humerous, celebration of the Springboks RWC win. You, Southcoast, chose to whinge, whine and carry on like a petulant brat!

Thats exactly what I was doing, it was you who started with such comments as copied below from your previous post of whining and writing in a condasending manner.

Have a read of what you said...
you would notice the toes touching the white stuff called a "touch-line", this BEFORE the ball is grounded. When you touch the line, BEFORE grounding the ball, you are "in touch", follow so far? Ever heard the saying "the touch-line belongs to the linesman?" Check your rulebook, mate. This is a game the poms supposedly invented. The IRB is in Dublin, Ireland. The UK guys write the rules or have the most influence on them. Dont whinge when those same pesky rules bite you in the back-side!! Anyway, the player who "created" the try that wasnt, should have been in the sin-bin for the unnecessary shove on Montgomery. No doubt, his intention was never to injure our kicker!! Even HAD the try been awarded and even HAD Jonny converted, not necesarily a given as he had been kicking poorly the whole series, the score would have been 15-13 in favour of the Springboks!!! If referee decisions were always perfect, the 'Boks win record over the last 12 years would've looked a lot better. You guys gloated over your fifty pointer in 2002 where you played a 14 man 'bok side which was down to 13 men for ten minutes of the game at one point. You didnt think we were going to leave it there, did you now? When our team has beaten your team four times in one season, then I think the best team won the cup. Why not graciously concede the point and get on with it.

Had enough of this, was supposed to be a topic with some banter, but obviously Jamex doesnt understand what that is...

Thanks for highlighting the spelling mistake below.

Thumbs down

Had enough of your childish type responces anyway.
Tut tut. Play nice, kiddies.

SC, maybe you should consult one of your mother tongue's many aids to the use of the English language prior to posting. Eish! Long-dead Oxford dons are no doubt at 4000rpm by now, not to mention Mr. Webster on the other side of the pond..........sies!

SC, old chap, seriously now, how old are you anyway? I would'nt want to be the cause of your blood pressure having to be read on a machmeter. Obviously I never understood your cleverly disguised irony. It was so cleverly disguised as just plain sour grapes. Honest misunderstanding but understandable as you are a superior englishman and I am a dumb dutchman from the colonies. It seems I butted in on a private joke. Please accept my apologies and we will refrain from throwing some "truths" around. "You are truely a fool." OUCH! That really hurt! And I am sooo thinskinned today, too! Anyway, hope your team can turn it around as, believe it or not, the only time I did not support them was in the two games against the 'Boks. Cheers Mate!

Actually, it ought really to be Fowler's English Usage that should be consulted.
Still, in the absence of a copy of that tome, may I refer one on to Juta's Dictionary where one can find such appropriate gems as this,

Dit jeuk baie waar die muskiet my lassnag gebyt het.
Which, since Afirikaans is banned here means more or less,
It's very itchy where the mosquito bit me last night.

Which brings us back rather neatly to round, hemispherical objects.

South Coast

Re: Stereotype South African Fans

Stereotype English Fans...

...includes British soccer
....cricket fans!
....rugby fans!
...maybe the odd "Gordon Brown" fan!

Remember, every country has its own fair share of hooligans and arrogant supporters!

Cut it loose, have fun!

We could not even pass "Kamp Staaldraad" the last RWC!

Remember? ...the scoreboard has no remarks column!

south coast,
I'm curious to know what you thought of Geoff Hurst's "goal" against Germany in the '66 World Cup final to go 3-2 up in injury time. Do you think the whole ball crossed the line? Or for that matter, ANY of the ball?(Feel free to refer to any of at least a dozen clips of the "goal" on youtube to jog the old memory)

Remember, that was for a World Cup as well. In light of the damning evidence of the above photograph, you can count yourselves bloody lucky that football does not take advantage of a TMO, otherwise you would only have 2003 to reminisce about.

Can you not read....I am not disputing it a try.

SA won, SA are world champions....I do not dispute it!

and Journey....

Whether the ball was over the line in 1966 or not, whether it was a try on Saturday or not, the game is over, the results stand!

Jeez. Does all that sun make the skin thinner and bring the body's nerves nearer the surface?

Well done SC. I've seen some trolling in my time but this was excellent work. Excellent

Joking aside I think South Africans are wonderful people and that every household should have one. Big softies really, just like rude Zims.
