Yeah,..........congratulations to all involved..........
but, abeg lets not fall into the normal naija trap where things start well, everybody hails, the staff pat themselves on the back for an excellent job 'finished', manager and directors become socialites and media stars..............and the business starts a downward dive!!!
The standards have to start high, and keep climbing.............the whole world is watching........

I've noticed that VKs local flights have been having quite low passenger numbers from what i gather listening to the usual "registration, souls on board, endurance" on lagos tower. SOBs have been in the 20s and 30s for port harcourt, while chanchangi is reporting 170 on board their 727s on the same route. The London flights have been solidly booked for months though.
Loads inbound to Lagos from PHC and ABV are better Capt. Possibly pax are unused to going to the International terminal to catch a domestic flight?
The London flight is quite popular

Hang in there. Less than a month old, Pax loads will pick up once word gets out on the quality of service offered and the lack of the usual scalpers [area boys] at the Int. terminal...early days yet.. SN good to have you back

Ok i have to bring this thread back from the dead. Virgin Nigeria conducted interviews for pilots last monday tuesday and wednesday 11th-13th in Lagos, I believe, to fill upcoming A340-300 and B737 classic positions. From what i hear the candidates are all nigerian even though i don't know if there were pilots of any other nationalities. Any other info highly appreciated e.g. if there are any confirmed appointments, when employment is likely to commence, etc. I hear the 737s are coming on line in the first week of sept. VN reportedly dosn;t waste time in getting back to successful candidates, at least thats what happened in the case of engineers (1-2 weeks).
Also any info on pay

Just curious, but it seems to me that going from the original A319 plan to Boeing 737 "classics" is a 180-degree turn in fleet policy. The former equipment would create the desirable effect of boldly operating truly modern equipment. I understand that A319s were unavailable but there's a ton of -600/700/800 available out there! I just hope VK doesn't accept ageing ex-Virgin Express models.

Virgin Nigeria, a wake up call!
Well,well,well!
Virgin nigeria is off to a start some of us expected.
A personal opnion? I think it will shape up or ship out the rest of the jokers we have at MMA and elsewhere in nigera.
Unfair advantages? I dont think so!!
We all have to admit that we have had to cope with absolute crap over the years with a strong sense of consolaton that some miracle would drop outta the sky!
All good! I think it has for our sakes.
Its been nice to read all opinions on the vigin issue,i just think some of us should be slightly more tactful with our otherwise opinionated comments.

Just gist here guys.
The word on the street is that training for the first batch of pilots begins first week of september.
At such time, the second batch of pilots will be called for interviews.
No confirmations on the salary scale yet, but, the gist is also that capts should expect btwn 800k-1m/month.
F/Os 80% of that! take home.
We all hope this is all true.

Just a reminder that we want to hear from anyone approached with offers of a 'referal service,' application assistance or supposed agency regarding employment at Virgin Nigeria.
Scamsters are about and we want to nail them. There are no application fees. No assessment fees. No sim practice sessions. Nothing, zip, nada.
Regards to all,
rob

Let's hope VK's A343 doesn't run into the same hole LH's A333 just ran into.
Maybe the Bearded One should have included completing runway resurfacing work in the contract before commencing services!

Hey guys,
Just to let you know, since no-one else wants to let us all know? Letters have been sent out for the fouth stage of evaluation in the uk which comprises of a psychometric test and simulator evaluation within the next couple of days.
Those who were not successful, would have also gotten their letters too.
Good luck you all, and may the best men win.

LATEST ON VGN
The 5th destination is definitely NOT Abidjan or Dakar.
Latest rumors say it is Douala Makes sense, a balanced East/West network which would reinforce the hub project (also providing London connections from Douala). For now, we can only live with gossip until Harford comes out with a press release.
A fleet announcement is also overdue! I gather that another A320 will be joining. 737 will be coming soon also. 737s (I can't confirm exact series) constitute VK's medium-run fleet solution and will be joining gradually beginning next few months, replacing the A320s then pure expansion onward.
Before you start jumpin in excitement: everything above is subject to change, I was told!
