S76 C++ / D ok for SAR in EASA?
Hi guys, a quick Q - I need to check if the 76C++ or D is still ok for SAR in EASA. I know the SMA used them until they got their 139s in 2013, so are they still approved or are there limits due to performance ?
I have no experience or manuals for the S76 so any advice appreciated.
cheers,

Does it have a 4-axis AP with transition modes, NVG cockpit, radar, dual-hoist with auto-hover/hover trim and a decent white-light set of floodlights?

Should be good for SAR then.
What is a dual-hoist? You mean a hoist with speed control (fast/slow), or dual control (pilot + crewman pendant), or dual winches fitted?
For S76 the answers are yes, yes, no. CHC use S76A++ in SAR role in Australia, I think they were all A model builds converted to A++ and modded with the auto-hover SAR package stuff plus NVG compatible lighting. No reason why C++ can't be modded so, assuming there is an IIDS version which is NVG compatible.

Dual hoist is not a UK thing. For example, it was a Statoil requirement for their SAR aircraft in Tanzania (now flying for Bristow in Nigeria)

Finding a image of any S76 version fitted with a dual hoist, seems rather elusive.Inaer's website has their Gardacosta machine with single only.Archive of retired SwedCG show single too.
Dual hoist was mandated by the UK CAA for sar. Because the single hoist goes against the double failure mode..
They actually wanted the 2 cables to run out at the same time, they settled for the "dual hoist".
The lighthouse services only have one hoist the windfarms one hoist.
Yes dual hoists are an option on the 139 blah blah blah. But its not mandatory.
NHV are using single hoist 365s to satisfy the dutch SAR mission.. Imagine a dual hoist on a 365 you would have no payload...
Is this done now?

I find that comment offensive. UK SAR has a dual hoist requirement following the death of Coastguard Winchman Billy Deacon, a good friend of mine!! I am sure also that some of my ex colleagues would agree with my sentiment!
