Finding missing persons isn't the only way of saving lives in this job. I guess we will never know how many lives units such as the Met have saved, and will continue to save while carrying out their 'duties'.
True, but it's subjective, and there is no place for that in this modern, evidenced based world that the accountants and business development officers work in.
Sky, no place for what?

P.S. pleased you didn't deny that the rural machines do save a lot of lives.
Why would I?

p.s. I'm surprised you seem to deny others don't save lives.

Sky Sports;
I will bet my bottom dollar that the likes of Rhuddlan, Ripley, Warton, Wattisham and Husbands Bosworth have located more vunerable missing persons, (and by that I mean suicidal, elderly, children), and saved their lives than the MET ever will do with their 3 aircraft.
Would you like to quantify that statement please, as I have a little something up my sleeve that may come as quite a shock to you

Expecting the short answer, Yes! ...

Dear all, would it be too much to ask for your opinions as to where you would have the bases within a national (England & Wales) police air support system?

Only a few 'rules'.

1. Limited to 19 rotary aircraft and 4 fixed wing aircraft. (23 total)
2. Limited to 15 base locations; 14 rotary bases and one fixed wing 'main base'.
3. A maximum of two bases may be at new locations, however aviation facilities must already exist at any new location chosen.

Hopefully we'll have some constructive posts to look forward to

One more for the "few" rule!

Silsoe

I'm afraid you forgot the most important and Cardinal rule?

The bases must be close to the constabularies that remain to pay for the hours.

Otherwise, they just pull the cash plug and bye, bye, NPAS.....sort of, what the PCC's will probably do in the next round of cuts.

Onward and downward

GG,

I'm sure we are all looking forward to your version of 'the plan'.

... they just pull the cash plug and bye, bye, NPAS...
I don't think that they CAN pull the plug - at the Onset several Police Forces were querying the
potential cost savings and improvements in efficiency that were being spouted by the NPAS sales team,
and resisted joining NPAS, which delayed their planned start dates.

Then the Government stepped in with the "Police (Collaboration: Specified Function) Order 2012",
which ordered all forces to collaborate.

Even the Met, who resisted, have now been forced to join in, and I think if anyone tried to opt out now,
they would just be "top sliced" and would still end up paying - for a service they don't receive.

Not so much a case of Onward and Downward, more Round and Round until the thing stops turning completely.

Nail.

UK NPAS discussion thread: Mk 5

There is a get out clause in the collaboration agreement. I can't remember the exact figure but I think it's about 50%.
If 50% or more of the contributing forces decide to pull out, then the whole thing falls and it is dissolved.

Digital,

At the moment, apart from the dispatch & flight monitoring centre staff, the post of every single person working for NPAS is under threat, regardless of whether their base is staying open, closing or relocating.

What motivates certain idiots to run multiple accounts to spam the rotorheads threads?

It is only ever the Police threads which are effected by this same person, which makes me think that they have certainly worked within the environment but now do not. So they either stood down as a pilot, failed a medical or they were sacked.

In respect of the massive dislike of Army NCO pilots, It just completely smacks of sour grapes, maybe he failed joining the forces and paid for his licenses , who knows.

Either way ADMIN you are tolerating members here being mocked & ridiculed by one seriously screwed up fool.

Aside that Pilots will be losing jobs, aside that TFOs will return to "plod" the wider public stand to lose out again with yet more public sector cuts, the implications of reduced air support have yet to be realised in these delightful austere times. The idiot posts are neither amusing informative or remotely respectful of the great work done by Police aviation units.

But your tolerance of this idiot posting wind up posts every 20 minutes and then answering himself with different IDs is pathetic. He should be permanently banned using his IP address, this can be done and there is NO EXCUSE for not doing this.

My respect goes out to all the crews effected by the cuts. I have nothing but admiration for their hard work and professionalism.

ADMIN : Please sort this out.

The offending member (or I assume the one that you are referring to) has already been banned.

The story of my life......always behind the drag curve.

Thanks again for your reply and also action, Police crews have enough to be concerned with, without being mocked here.

Good work.

After we work out who the question is for, we now have to work out if SS is replying on behalf of SS or SS

So, are all those who are affected either pilots or police officers?

Hey, looks like I'm not the one who's been banned, either.

NPAS at EMA? A new base being built to replace the existing one only a few miles north?

Redundancies, relocation packages, fixed wing procurement, two new bases, penalty payments from terminating contracts.

Hope all this doesn't cost more than the planned 14% saving, because that would be really embarrassing!!!!!!!!
