Need a position in anything related to ATC
Hi, I'm a Spaniard, 22 years old, who did a Basic and ADI course in Cwmbran 2 years ago with an ICAO 5, and I haven't been able to get any OJT. I've phoned, and applied for many positions, including ATCA positions, in the biggest companies and private towers in the UK but nothing.... I also tried NATS, but unfortunetely didn't have a good day on the cubes. (although I'm not bad at spatial reasoning).
My education qualification is Selectividad in Spain, equivalent to A-Levels in the UK with grades B in Maths and A in English.
I'm a very hard-working person, who always puts effort in everything I do and who tries his best, I'm quite ambitious. I also absorb and understand information quickly and I'm good at multi-tasking and in working under pressure.
I would like to know anyone that could help me get OJT or an ATCA position or any position related to ATC that suits me. Pay doesn't really matter at this stage, and I'm willing to relocate. Also any advise on options that could improve my employability are welcome. Please PM or answer me.

just to cover all possibilities and since your spanish won't be a problem, have you tried applying at FerroNats (mainland Spain) or Saerco (Canary islands)?

From what I hear from both Saerco and FerroNats the average performance of the new atcos has been well past dreadful. For both of these companies there have been cases where a student failed his/her 3 attempts at OJT and they just transfered that person to another tower to start there the whole process again.
Mind you, I heard about a month ago that FerroNats had reconsidered that practice and was not going to relocate a dude who failed 3 times at LEVC. There also seems to be a guy at LEZL who also failed the tird time but I'm not sure if they plan on reposition him.
In any case I know that both FerroNats and Saerco have started operations at several towers with less than the minimum amount of atcos approved by the spanish air safety agency (think of any serious, respected and independent institution... this one is the opposite ) claiming that the "excess" atcos where in order to allow for vacations and enough rotations but that they can start with fewer and hire more on the go. Call me a cynical (I do it every morning to the mirror as a sanity exercise ) but I don't expect that once the own staff of FerroNats/Saerco is responsible for training the next batch there will be a single drop-out, all will pass brilliantly.
The point I'm trying to make is that if you are desperate enough you could try again applying with both FerroNats and Saerco as they will need new hires, you already have their negative. Nevertheless I'd suggest you carefully read both their terms and conditions and the legal framework you will be bound to and then decide if you REALLY are that desperate.
Did you know that to quit the job you have to give them notice 7 months in advance? Or that you can be fined 4,5 MILLION € for not attending an english exam or similar trifle things? As said, read carefully before your sign over your soul.

Why would you not attend an English exam if your employer instructs you to? Is a certain level of demonstrated proficiency in English not a regulatory requirement? Doesn't sound like a 'trifle' to me.

The problem that has arise is that they law seems to be very vague on specifics.
Hence the comment comparing the requirement to be proficient in English to any minor issue which suddenly finds the full force of the law behind it.

Apologies for not being too clear on my previous post.
English proficiency is certainly a vital requirement for international aviation to work. However if for whatever reason I can't attend to a scheduled exam and instead would have to wait for the next one... say a week later and months before my current rating expired, I COULD be charged within the current legal framework.
Here is a link to the current law (spanish, sorry).
On all the towers that were privatized the controllers got letters informing them that they had to "voluntarily" request the OJTI rating or risk being charged with "obstructing provider change" as stated on that law.
As said before, the information is available to the general public, read it and decide if you really need that job so badly.
English proficiency is certainly a vital requirement for international aviation to work.
