Dated 10 Nov 2014

"In total, it takes Flybe’s routes to 17 to and from Manchester, with up to 660 flights a week." So accordingly to that article that's 330 weekly departures.

Flybe start new daily service from Manchester Airport to Amsterdam - Manchester Evening News

But two days after this Bournemouth was added at 12 weekly, so possibly 342 departures ?

Sure there are more than 18 destinations though aswell ??

Flybe

Bagso

To add to Adfly's post it also depends on how you spin the numbers.

A quick look at June shows BHX has 11 based aircraft, more than double Manchester and 50 mainline flights on average per weekday compared to around 47 for Manchester and 8 jets based at BHX to Manchester's 3.

However when you add in the Loganair flights (GLA & NWI) then Manchester outstrips the BHX mainline flights and there is a distinct possibility there could be further consolidation at BHX as the schedule on sale makes no sense.

BHX needs 11 aircraft at times but this is with one 175 sitting on the deck until 5pm and a Q400 departing at 10.25 on its first flight. That simply won't be allowed to happen and I will assume it will mean 9/10 based at most unless they are going to increase frequency of existing routes or add some new ones.

The likely outcome is that BHX will remain the larger base in terms of aircraft but in terms of flights and seats available it will be close. I guess more will be known once the BHX schedule is adjusted.

Ryanair will serve the currently vacant MAN-STR route 6/7 from April 2015.

Brilliant news indeed. Nothing on their website yet though.

I also notice Manchester will be Stuttgart's only Ryanair route. First time MAN is a new airports first destination on Ryanair.

so if STR has to be operated by MAN based aircraft, then I would expect a raft of announcements for MAN routes for the additional aircraft that would appear to be needed here?

8th based already loaded, so, this would be 9th based, even if just the peak.

August sees a lot of route increases, so, I would expect 9 based at the very least for August, if not the whole summer.

Could we still be on for 10 RYR based at MAN for next summer? Other forums seem to indicate plans are fairly certain. And new Ryanair Stuttgart on sale Wednesday and MAN based.

Also seems TCX are up to something too. Doing a dummy booking for January Goa flight, seat map indicates an aircraft with 52 rows and 3-4-3 layout? TCX A330 have 44 rows and 2-4-2 so are they planning on leasing something else? Would have to be 777 size...

RYR BRE

RYR Bremen doesn't appear to be bookable after March 28th. Is it being dropped in favour of Stuttgart?

FR will only be basing 7 aircraft and STR is able to operate within those 7 aircraft. I have not looked for August but its 7 for the summer and these is some gaps in the 7 based so they may accommodate some of the extra's in August.

Lot of away base flights.

If MAN is the only route from STR its for a reason and nothing special!

I think this has left some of us confused. It's been said on here it could be 9 based and on another forum that it's definitely 9 and could be 10. Unless a lot of flights have been switched from based a/c to non-based compared to this summer, the difference is significant in terms of capacity. Whether MAN could cope with 9 based is a separate issue.

The real test for measuring net growth by Ryanair will be the number of weekly departures in peak season 2015 compared to this year. Does anyone have this information as it stands and are changes still being made to the schedules?

EK21/22 is showing as a 332 for winter 15/16 in the GDS (although still showing 77W on EK.com).

Early days of course, plenty of time for it to revert to 77W....but as it's unlikely we're getting a capacity cut, could this be in preperation for the fourth daily?

Jamiie,

MAN is definately at least 8 based next summer apparently. Ive not seen it myself but Coms in crew room at MAN said 8th based arrives in June.

I think it will be a case of wait and see, it wasnt that long ago some posters were full of doom and gloom that there was going to be next to no growth for S15, since then a fair few routes and extra based aircraft have been announced.

Some more evidence to work from?

Ryanair, Europe’s favourite airline, today (17 Dec) announced further extension to its Manchester summer 2015 schedule with a new route to Stuttgart in Germany, which will operate six times weekly from 2nd April. This is in addition to 2 new summer 2015 routes to Eindhoven and Shannon (38 routes in total) and extra flights to/from Alicante, Lisbon and Madrid, which will deliver 2.7m customers p.a. and support 2,700* “on-site” jobs at Manchester Airport.

In terms of EK, I believe its the default schedule loaded for W15 at the moment.

The A330's are being phased out, so unlikely to be back in the UK.

With EY adding capacity in the form of more B77W's, Turkish going 3 daily, Qatar adding 4 more flights, Cathay starting, Saudi Airlines adding flights and Hainan to Beijing to be announced by February, one wonders what EK's reaction to this will be. They have not been shrinking violets in the past, and hover been scared of competition.

Not only that, but, loads of 90% and more, its certainly an interesting time for EK at MAN.
