Just done a trial booking on sea air web site .......DEPT SEN tomorrow for a 1 week stay in MUNICH......web site is showing flights for sale for the next few months ..didn't think you were allowed to sell flights if there arnt any,
mikkie - maybe it is not allowed, but who is going to enforce this rule ? Takes a long time from someone asking their bank for a refund to the credit card processor ceasing to handle payments.

Things are looking up. Sounds like SEN is going to liven up.
You don't think that's anything to do with them getting rid of the airline?
How did you arrive at that conclusion? The article you linked to is just the normal spiel that comes out of AGM's. There's nothing specific there - just the normal forward looking aspirations.

Why would Cityjet buying Stobart Air be good news for SEN - the management connection between airport and airline gets broken?

on the sale maybe a bit , but it's not s big enough profit to warrant that gain..
Future returns are what counts. Well actually perceived future returns.
Like easy jets have hit the can, post brexit

As to whether or not the Cityjet/Stobart deal could be good news for SEN it may depend upon the size of the Stobart shareholding in the 'new' airline. It seems unlikely that Stobart would not have pushed strongly in the negotiations for some benefits to result for its SEN project.

From their annual meeting
The last sentence suggests they still plan on controlling Stobart air to a certain degree.
"Our target is to grow passenger numbers at London Southend Airport to over 2.5 million passengers per year and deliver £8 EBITDA
per passenger by 2018.
Last month, we reported that the airport served 0.9 million passengers in the year to 29 February 2016.
In the three months to 31 May 2016, like‐for‐like passenger numbers and load factors were broadly in line with the prior year, on‐
me performance con nues to outperform airline targets and revenue per passenger increased.
London Southend Airport's management team have advanced talks with a number of low‐cost carriers and full service operators,
who want to take advantage of the airport's access to London capacity at peak mes, to deliver this growth.
Our airline investment, Stobart Air, carried 353,000 passengers in the three months to 31 May 2016, an increase of nearly 17% and we
are considering opportuni es with the airline to develop sustainable routes to and from London Southend Airport".

I agree that benefiting SEN would not have played much - if any - part in the negotiations, however opportunities for growth will now be considered, and the airport would be given serious discussion. If an airline with so much Stobart input believes there is nothing for them at Southend, now that would be worrying.

It is believed that under the takeover deal, CityJet's backers would secure ownership of a Cayman Islands company, Propius Holdings, that acts as a leasing firm to Stobart Air.
