There is potential for a LGW based A319 or two to be redeployed elsewhere in southern England, where they can be parked overnight and where the peak hour runway slots are available to serve the routes with the demand.
The 186 seat A320 will increasingly be the EZY aircraft of choice for Gatwick ops.

I am sure that BRS, BOH and SOU are watching with interest.
there was something said a few weeks ago that the brs base would be increased by 2 aircrafts with more routes. this could be tied in with the Gatwick situation.

Not forgetting that EZY already have an (underutilised) base at SEN!

Easy jet

There's no way Easyjet would operate from Southampton with Flybe in-house.However perhaps there will be an opportunity for them to open up some routes from Bournemouth.

Never say never regarding Easyjet at Southampton and I definitely don't think that just because Flybe are the in house airline it would be an issue, and I mean a big if that it bring the case that Easyjet did ever operate from SOU I think they could kill off Flybe on the sun routes and would prove more popular with passengers with a better quality product and a guaranteed year round schedule.

Although realistically if Easyjet did expand on the south coast my bets would be on BOH purely and ONLY purely because of its longer runway and spare apron capacity.

For those that are interested Bournemouth handled 70 , 994 passengers in May down 6 %

Thomson had a really good start to the summer with virtually full flights

Palma saw a huge 15 , 343 passengers travel , hard to work out the BA charters to Palma but average loads look to be about 82 passengers on a E 190 , hopefully these will return next year

Ryanair had big increases especially to Faro , Palma and Malaga

I don't think it would matter one jot if airlines were viewing your comments or not. I would be very surprised if the commercial/route development teams of every UK airline don't look at stats for every airport in country, afterall if they didn't then then would be failing in their roles. There's a reason why there aren't many airlines in BOH, just the same as there isn't in CWL/DSA & alot of other regional airports, it's because it simply isn't commercially viable, if it was then airlines would flood into there in abundance.

Bournemouth handled 80 , 383 passengers in June down 7 % on last year

However there were some large increases in loads with Ryanair which defiantly help to off set the Flybe loss

Faro 70 % increase to 7 , 801 passengers
Malaga 30 % increase to 9460 passengers
Palma 30 % increase to a whopping 20 ,019 passengers including Thomson
Las Palmas 240 % !! to 4750 passengers

Hopefully next years summer schedule will be announced in the next few weeks and may even see a few more new routes , fingers crossed

83,598 passengers in August 2016

Bournemouth saw a 16.5% decline in passengers in August according to MAG data. I would hazard to say this is mostly down to the Flybe withdrawal.

Underlying growth

The Aug 2015 total was 99215, this was I think Flybe busiest month at BOH, with 19508 pax.

Taking Flybe out of the BOH August 2015 figure, you see 79707 pax last year.

The total of 83598 this year, indicates around 5% underlying growth, which is almost entirely RYR.

This equates to 125 pax/day, broadly equal to one Daily Flybe rotation.

More work to do, but I expect to see the airport back in overall growth in 2017.

Easy Jet have added an extra Geneva flight on a Sunday for the months of Feb / March when the service finishes , taking the number of flights a week up to 7

In previous years the flight has operated into the first half of April but at a reduced service

The extra Sunday schedule is 0945 - 1025 operated by an A320

An extra charter to Lapland with Small Planet A320 has also been put on taking the number of these flights to 5 using Thomson , Small Planet and Enter air

Contrasts sharply with the other end of MAGs portfolio, Manchester, which handled over 100,000 pax in a DAY on some days in July/August this year.

The CAA figures for Aug and Sept have been added now finally bringing things more up to date now

August saw 83 , 784 use the airport down 16 % and September saw 72 , 106 down again 18 %

Won't go into great details but on the plus side Ryanair had some good loads this summer with Palma , Faro and Malaga particularly high with extra flights being added
Palma saw the highest figure yet of 18 , 783 passengers use the service in August and Malaga also the highest with 11 , 126

Cruise charters were also full to Athens , Venice and Rome for Cunard and P&O using Titan but nothing is yet on sale for next summer which is strange

First Ryanair flight to Krakow went out yesterday fingers crossed for some new routes next summer when there schedule is officially launched from the airport
