Have you had it confirmed that sim ride is on 787.
Recent assessments are 320/380

Would you be kind to clarify if you know this? I have my EASA since Nov 2022...that this means I need to do all exams again for the UK conversion???? pls let me know and thanks in advance

Hi all,

I’ve got my assessment day booked in for the coming weeks (A320 DEP). If anyone could DM me any recent feedback I’ll owe them a beer 🍺

Cheers!

Simulator Assessment.

Hi All,

I’m booked in for the sim assessment later on this month. I believe it’s on the 380. Potentially the 320 if they have availability.

I have a rough idea of what to expect (raw data flying, no AP etc.) I was wondering if anyone has any further info/tips on what I can use to prep. Feel free to send me a DM. Cheers!

Q007 15th October 2024 08:12

hi BIGO.....I applied but so far no news......I have been reading this posts where people are sharing good things and I cannot find the latest one.
My understanding is:
Interview Group (scenario based with a task) and Capacity on one day.
Sim slots released for day two.( apparently 380....320 only if available
Sim: some warmup and then simple things but manual flying (I have read even the bird FPV is not available)

Can you help me by sharing w/ me since? you are going for sim...that means you passed the capacity tests....right? How did you prepare for it? did you use a prep online? which one you used? was it worth it? thks in advance (DM in you want to ). Q

If you passed the exams before 1 January 2021, the CAA will credit them. If not, you will have to resit the CAA exam for each subject not passed before Jan 1 2021.

Would a new FO on 777/787 get many trips to places in Texas and Nashville or are they more senior trips usually?

No more numerical and verbal reasoning?

Hi all,

If anyone has recently gone through the DEP Long haul/787 selection process could you please shed some light on it please. I heard there's no longer any maths or English reasoning tests?

many thanks.

Hi Sleithykeithy,
I'd really appreciate that info as well if you can DM me please. Thanks

The first day is the Eagle Test (Crew Capacity Test) which is not too bad but very busy, the trick I found was when you have to record a fuel snapshot every 2 minutes or you are following ATC instructions, just divide your time (easy said than done I know), for example if you are performing the electronic checklist and it directs you to shut down either the left or right generator, if I recall when you do that you have to wait 20 secs for it to cool down before you can action the next item. Therefore during that 20 seconds you will be directed to another task to distract you, but it can still be achieved for example setting a radio frequency or waypoint or even taking a snapshot of the fuel, however just remember to come back to the checklist to action the last remaining items.

I used the Skytest and there are mix opinion on it, I certainly did not find it helpful at all, however those using Skytest will note that you have to be quite fast on the fuel page, in the real test it is much slower and you have a better chance of catching a low fuel problem before it develops, just keep checking the fuel page slowly to see if the respective fuel pump pressure is reducing.

The handling test then follows on, very simple especially speed control, fly by wire.

Group exercise is straight forward, the initial 4 minutes to read the small briefing is timed by the assessors including the whole group activity.

BNA and AUS (currently A350) tend to be more popular, however DFW and IAH can go pretty junior.

BIGO123,

Make sure you learn the profiles they give you, the checklist responses, the standard calls and the pitch and thrust datums.

You will of course be fully briefed in the classroom before you go in the SIM. After a short practice, you will be given a route to fly, which will be short and comprise of a SID, airways section, an arrival, followed by an approach. The MAP will not be avialble to make sure you are on top of you situational awareness and workload mangaement, particularly your top of descent and be aware of any arrival constraints. The AP is avialable above transition (possibly manual thrust all the way). It is worth thinking about the basics you would have learned years ago, beacon tracking, hold entries and how to fly raw data holds etc.

In amoungst all that you will be presented with a NOTECH issue to deal with as a crew, therefore is will give you chance to demonstrate your problem solving and decision making, leadership, teamwork, comunication skills etc. With this in mind make sure these skills are polished and you have a good PSD framework to work with. The whole exercise gives you as the PF and PM to demonstrate the 9 pilot competency skills.

If you do the preparation it is enjoyable.
