Applied to BA Long Haul and received a response within a few hours with a “Personality and Cognitive Test.” Has anyone got any insight into what kind of tests they use (e.g. SHL, AON, etc.)?

Your PS suggests you have not looked at the finer detail. Or you are one of the people who is benefitting all round so no wonder you think it looks a good deal.

It is fairly obvious that any pay deal which needs to be drip fed over the course of a week, is almost certainly not going to be great for the majority. Some people are doing incredibly well out of it though. A fact which most certainly cannot be disputed.

I’m less convinced about today’s offering though. I still struggle with a bonus mechanism that is part reliant on something we have zero control over, and to tie it in anyway to you-know-what is crazy in my opinion. I’m being deliberately vague here, but that specific decision has got absolutely no place whatsoever being tied to a bonus trigger. |

Just to add for anyone watching on the sidelines, it seems this highly anticipated deal was underwhelming to many and I am not sure if it will get through the vote. In any case we will see come April! |

My best advice would be to be as honest as possible and you likely won’t go far wrong. |
We are not even half way through the drip feed though. This tactic has been chosen for a reason. Knowing the way BALPA operate, and the amount of time they have invested in this, I suspect it will get membership approval. However, it will likely only just get through, and it will lead to a lot of very seriously hacked off SFOs. I doubt it will especially motivate many senior captains either. Very junior FOs from other companies will be pleased (unless they had their eye on a quick short haul command), and short haul captains will be especially pleased.

Not seeing anything of interest to me in today’s instalment, but all the currently still frozen Covid affected captains will be unfrozen for this upcoming bid. It will be interesting to see where everyone moves around to.

Keeping it relevant to the target audience of this thread, it’s a huge basic salary increase for anybody joining with 3000+ hours, and still a moderate basic salary increase for anybody below those hours.

I’m approaching 3000 hours and in choosing to pursue an upgrade at my current outfit vs join BA, an uplift/recognition of experience there would certainly attract me.
That said from what I can see BA has always structured its pay on time at the company, so I can’t imagine those with fewer hours but more loyalty will be too happy with experienced newbies showing up on more money than them. |
