I'm going through the vetting process at the moment. They have started it, but won't request references from your current employer until 28 days before your start date.

Airlines need to ensure that referencing is within the required dates for airside ID's to be issued. That is all the 28 days is about surely. If you are concerned about referencing pick up the phone and just talk to them. There are many ways around any issues you could experience, including tax statements and payslips should anyone experience issues.

Waiting times...

Hi all, I got the hold pool entry call on the 19th of April. So about 5 weeks in and not heard anything other than the "Business update" email.

Anyone recently been through the hold pool? How long was your wait and did you make any contact with Jet2 whilst waiting?

Any advice greatly received.

Been waiting since February, also no communication other than the generic business updates. Any attempt at communication is met with no reply.

Not worried at all. Simply explaining that they won't request references until 28 days before your start date.

Any truth that you are scored on how well you do in the assessment and that determines your position in the hold pool and that if candidates are assessed after you and score better they jump ahead of you? (Not complaining at the method)

2 guys at my current airline (same experience, same fleet, same base requests) were both assessed 3 weeks apart and the chap interviewed later received a start date after 6 weeks and the other is still waiting 3 months later

True, but nobody quite knows how the scoring is done by HR

Interview and Sim Oct & Nov. Offer in Dec for start in March but clashed with leave and a holiday. Accepted a Nov start.

Pilotman14 3rd June 2024 20:30

Anyone know how long we have to wait to reapply after failing the sim?

Cheers

3legs 4th June 2024 13:19

12 Months from the Sim date. :ok:

Any estimates when the Airbus will start to arrive into Stansted or Bournemouth?

STN 2026. BOH not open until 2025, but no info so far for the bus.

Stabilised 8th June 2024 00:59

Is there any plan or timeframe for Airbus to be based in Belfast?

flymoy 12th June 2024 13:35

Yep!

That's worrying to hear. I know people that have only waited a month and a half in the pool but there seems to be no logic as to why they get a shorter wait...
Out of interest, what base and fleet had you requested? I'm wondering if this has some sort of bearing.....

I've also attempted several emails and a couple of linkedin messages but had absolutely no response.

Does anyone have a number I could call? Or any further advice....

Yeah I’m getting very concerned. J2 is by far my best option and it seemed like the hard bit was done after the assessments but maybe I was wrong.

I asked for Bhx/Man/Edi in that order, preference is the Airbus but think that was obvious to them by my base choices!

Some people have suggested calling them and sent me various numbers but that just seems a bit too forward for me.

My portal does still say awaiting update, but having had no communication at all is frustrating especially when other candidates have been offered start dates since then.

If it’s any ease of mind, I’m in a similar situation. Hold pool since Feb’24 for NTR FO. Base preferences MAN/LPL/BHX in order. No fleet preference given but did my sim assessment on the bus if that has any influence.

Only generic emails received from Jet2 every few months. J2 careers site application now says “Under Review”.

Had suggestions to contact them, but from profusely checking this forum daily it seems others have had no luck with responses! Also don’t want to seem too forward and ‘annoying’ to them, might be me overthinking it.

Fortunate to have had some positive assessments with competitors, but J2 is definitely priority of all of them. I trigger-refresh this forum far too often hoping some have good news on their hiring plans for NTR FO’s for ‘24.

In my personal experience, the recruiters are friendly and receptive to professional interaction, so if you have relevant contact details, why not use them? We like to think airline recruitment processes are efficient, but sometimes it can be quite the opposite, and it’s easy for good, qualified Pilots to get missed/fall through the cracks. So don’t leave it to chance. If you already know someone in Jet 2 and/or have someone who sponsored your application, see if they can chase up for you, that worked for me!

Regarding the base choice. Jet2 will try their best endeavours to put everyone in their base of choice asap, and certainly one from the three choices that you give. The base transfer policy is very transparent once you join. If Airbus fleet/base is what you’ve requested, that may be a reason for delay, purely due to lack of aircraft, trainers meaning lack of available training sectors.

Without being too cheesy, one of our company values is ‘Take responsibility’, so why not give them a call or email? Nothing to lose IMHO.

Well said. No “inside” contacts unfortunately but will try their generic recruitment email. Thanks 737 Jockey :ok:

I interviewed and simmed Nov 23, got an offer May and starting in Nov 24 for BHX Airbus DEC

I didn’t chase them during any of it, but I got the generic hold pool emails then a call for a course last month.

I understand Airbus deliveries got delayed by Airbus from 2 per month from Jan 24 to just 2 for the year, but that is due to ramp up from next year to 2-3 aircraft per month from Jan 25, so expect the hold pool for the Airbus to start moving fairly soon I’d suggest.

My experience in calling the recruitment dept has been very positive. I always left a friendly voicemail and gave times that l’d be available for a call back. They’ve been professional, open, honest and friendly, which is a total opposite from my current employer, so a good start so far!

SW1 14th June 2024 17:49

what bases are being offered for those interviewing now. I turned down a northern base in the hope that something southerly will open up. Understand STN from 2026.

flymoy 26th June 2024 15:02

Number?

What number were you using? I've tried messaging on linkedin but had no luck. Quite frustrating when they are constantly posting about new "recruitment roadshows" whilst we are sitting here not getting any updates having been screened and jumped through all the hoops.

flymoy 26th June 2024 20:04

Number

Does anyone have a good number to contact recruitment on? I've sent a few linkedin messages and an email or two but not had any responses. Would just like to touch bases and see if any updates are available.
Many thanks in advance.

Where did you end up?

Mr Good Cat 28th June 2024 17:05

It’s not personal, there just aren’t enough spare office staff to phone everybody up regularly just to tell them there isn’t a place available yet. Once there is a slot for you, the phone call will come straight away. Otherwise, you’re just in the pool waiting, along with everybody else who’s passed.

I actually managed to get a linkedin message back from a recruiter that it said exactly that. I know they are really busy with a large recruitment drive so I understand they can't keep calling everyone.
Oh well I'll just keep the phone on loud and fingers crossed. 🤞🏻

Has anyone had any calls or updates?

sleithykeithy 18th July 2024 22:16

Not personally but someone I know had a call the other day for a start date in 2025.

LeftHighandDry 18th July 2024 22:27

Start dates in 2025 but assessments still happening constantly. Must be hundreds of people in the hold pool by now.

Elwoodblues 19th July 2024 14:13

Does anyone know if there is a time limit after passing the assessment process and sitting in the hold pool before having to reassess in the sim or the interview?

AirbusP1 22nd July 2024 17:16

Not officially but I think GDPR regulations might dictate how long he company are allowed to retain your information on file if you're not an employee, just a guess. Quite a number of current employees who were in the holding pool prior to the pandemic had to reapply and do selection again as the hold pool was dissolved due to GDPR.

Hold pool flush?

Waiting in the hold pool for the last 4 month for a position to become avaliable and then just received an automated email saying my application was unsuccessful despite having had a phone call confirming my success and place in the pool.....

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I tried calling but they would not put me through to hr or recruitment. I've sent an email requesting clarity but just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else?

It seems like they have a huge number of positions to fill in the next 2 years so It seems strange to flush out a pilot that met the standards and is awaiting a job....

Yes I've been in the hold pool for 9 months, received the call and a few emails earlier this year informing me that I was still active in the hold pool and no need to reapply. And today received the same unsuccessful automated email.

Have you made any attempt to contact them? I can't help but feel this is an automated error?

It would be such a strange decision to spend all that money and time recruiting us to then completely remove us from the running when there are still jobs to fill.

Also an automated email with no explanation after all the time we've waited and effort we have all put in would be incredibly cold.

I've sent a couple emails with no reply, I know of many pilots that entered the pool long after myself NTR with the same base preference and all received start dates. Makes me think it wasn't an error and they are getting rid of folk they don't want.
An explanation would have been nice. Not exactly in line with their company values.

Manflyer737 13th August 2024 19:32

Has anyone heard any more..?

galacticosh 14th August 2024 07:46

Seems like they have a list in order of preference for the hold pool with your scores from interview. Those at the top of the list have been offered a place. They’ll get round to you as the list gets reduced. Unlikely they’ve forgotten you, and unlikely you are no longer in the hold pool if they haven’t said anything.

I hope that is the case. As it stands my candidate profile on the Jet2 careers site shows as unsuccessful now, after spending a number of months in the hold pool. Is there anyone on here with any info on recruitment at Jet2 in regards to the recent hold pool emails? I've not had any response from them so may start the application process again.

Sorry to hear. Does sound rather strange though.

All I can say is that I've been in the hold pool for 7 months, and had an email last week updating my career profile to the 'Interview' stage.
