Max

I understand your point and maybe my choice of the word 'moaning' wasn't my best, and I don't begrudge people discussing work issues, contracts, rosters and so on, but there has to come a time when one excepts the state of our industry.
I would fight to the bitter end for a 'Norwegian' contract as I was promised many years ago, but unfortunately the reality is I don't think it'll ever happen how ever hard we and BALPA stamp our feet.

maxpeck 2nd July 2016 14:18

I can understand your point of view, but I can't totally agree with it unfortunately. But one thing I can agree on is how we have both been lied to regarding employment etc, regardless of long or short haul.

I have to agree I don't think much will change either, but I will keep banging my feet though.

JaxofMarlow 2nd July 2016 16:13

PNH. If the whole industry was in the place that Norwegian want to take it then you would have a point. But it isn't and accepting that it will be is a massive mistake.

I am grateful that DB keeps the audience here up to date on what seems to be going on within Norwegian. It gives candidates a better understanding to make their employment choice.

Only steady drops crack the rock. Keep it up DB, it is important.

Hi guys, is anyone that has done the online tests kind enough to PM please? i have a couple of questions. Cheers

I-AINC 11th July 2016 21:51

Still waiting since October... Would be nice to know if I passed the online test at least...

NEDude 12th July 2016 09:09

That instills a lot of confidence in the process...

Is there any actual NLH pilot here who could give me some advice if joining Norwegian Long Haul is a good idea right now, or not.

I am employed on the B777 but with no upgrade possibility with my current employer.

Training bond

I have the NLH screening due in a couple of weeks. Anybody who got through it can shed some light on the training bond requested? I've never done it before.

Thanks in advance

PG

They contacted me some days ago. Took them half a year !

This 787 “pioneer” talks about his orifice, bedroom and “as good as it gets” lifestyle with Norwegian - if this helps to decide:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6bPjl-e2PM

Conversely, a previous post reports that 25 pilots have recently vacated Norwegian’s premises en masse after receiving far better terms and conditions from another landlord:

It was about 25 with VS maybe needing 20 to 40 more!.…..with the prospect of being away for 20 days in and out of Scandinavia in your future I would think Virgin LHR base an offer you couldn't turn down
For those of you without the rating and worried about the bond; you could join Rishworth, get the rating and time on type with Norwegian, then seek employment with an airline. A way out of the bond might be to notify Norwegian you empathize with Caitlyn Jenner and are considering a gender change. Attending the admin office wearing stilettos and a flirty little black number should do the trick.

Good luck!

Can any UK guys with NLH shed some light on the bond please? Is the only option in the UK to cough up the money or is there somewhere one can get the bank guarantee letter as it seems common to do in Europe? Cheers!

Press Release

Looks like Kjos is pretty confident about future expansion plans.

There are other press releases to consider regarding the aspirations of the smiling rock ape:-

“Now that Norwegian Air’s exemption application has been dismissed, the company’s business model - described by DOT as ‘novel and complex’ – will face the careful scrutiny it deserves. Norwegian Air should not be permitted to create shell subsidiaries designed to undermine labor standards and take advantage of lax employment and tax laws” - Ed Wytkind, leader of the TTD, 12 million members, AFL-CIO union.

The selection process is described on Norwegian's webpage in the introduction text to where you apply.

It says:

"The first step is to fill out and submit your CV and application. You will then receive an e-mail confirming the receipt of your application. In addition you will be sent an invitation to do five online tests."
[...]
"Applicants that fulfill the requirements for the position and successfully pass the online tests and background checks including references check, will be contacted via e-mail if advancing further in the assessment process. Please note that it is an ongoing recruitment process."

As I understand, if you don't hear anything after you have completed the online tests, it simply means that you have passed it and wait for the next step. Norwegian will contact you only if you fail something or go further in the process.

Hear they have thousands of applications why they probably cannot reply with a separate email to each individual. They are not so many people doing the recruitment. It's a LCC.

Heard from a friend that screened this week that they screen 250 pilots only this summer; June, July and August. Impressive. :ok:

The Crew 22nd July 2016 03:51

... and 249 of them are from Turkish, with 90% deemed desperate enough to accept the Norwegian "UK" Singapore Pte pay scale lol

Direct Bondi 27th July 2016 04:08

The EU Commission has invoked an arbitration process that “could take several months” (in addition to any election delays) to consider US permit applications by NAI and NA UK:-

http://www.cnbc.com/2016/07/26/reuters-america-exclusive-eu-to-seek-arbitration-in-dispute-with-us-over-norwegian-air-sources.html

Those opposing the applications continue to cite Norwegian’s non-compliance with Article 17 (labor standards, labor rights and principles) of the Open Skies Agreement. The ex-Deputy Administrator of NASA is the latest to oppose Norwegian:-

“……along with the advantages of healthy competition come the opportunists – those fueled by competition but seeking to cheat the system to gain the upper hand”

http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/transportation/288281-why-obama-must-reject-norwegian-air

Norwegian has the longest pending application in the history of the Open Skies Agreement. I doubt it will receive any further consideration until after Clinton or Trump’s inauguration. Clinton has already stated she is against granting Norwegian a US permit.

Hey! anyone that did the screening tests( sim, interview, etc..) could PM me with details? Thanks!

Catacroker 2nd August 2016 09:23
