The NLH roadshow in the Middle East has been a failure. Now they are trying to sell their poor contracts to the Martinair pilots.

SR71 13th May 2016 10:57

Out of curiousity, do you have to be a EU citizen to work for NLH if based in the EU?

Do NLH have any EU bases now, as opposed to BKK?

I see that Rishworth are offering employment with NLH now via a "UK Employment Contract with a UK Company" whatever that means?

I presume that for this contract, you must be a EU citizen?

NEDude 13th May 2016 11:51

They are only offering the LGW base.

The Crew 14th May 2016 22:37

Theres a quote on Rishworth site from a very happy chappie who says NLH is the best thing going .
Is this guy quoted for real?

Now NLH have their approval , frequencies from LGW will increase. Good news ?

The NLH roadshow in the Middle East has been a failure.
Lots of pilots in the sandpit looking to get out and the roadshow was a failure. It gives an idea about the offer by NLH...

Online test done. Anyone knows how long can I expect to wait for a reply?

lear999wa 19th May 2016 16:22

NAI does not have us dot approval, NAI only has been granted tentative approval.

The fat lady has yet to sing.

Direct Bondi 19th May 2016 17:14

Correct – she just ordered another very large pizza…

The Irish Examiner reports today:-

“32 US Congressmen have now written to Mr. Obama urging his administration to reconsider the US Department of Transportation’s (DoT) tentative decision to grant a foreign air carrier permit to Irish-based airline, Norwegian Air International (NAI)”

“The Congressmen said the opportunities created by Open Skies are not intended to undermine labor standards or the labor related rights and principles contained in EU or US laws”

http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland...ts-400296.html

NAI pilots and cabin crews are employed by various worldwide agencies. The flight crews have neither labor rights nor labor principles with NAI directly.

The Crew 19th May 2016 23:12

At the end of the day do we legally have to have unionisation within an employer ? Doesnt happen at Goldmansachs right.? Korean Air happily operate to the US with contractual non unionised labour.
If a pilot accepts a contract that is deemed to be a bit of a pi$$ take then so be it?

If NLH cant get sufficient guys then they will increas their rates. Just because its low pay low cost shouldn't have an impact on their rights to open skies ?

With the plunge in demand for trans atlantic tourism it will be interesting to see how the next year or two pans out regarding how secure those UK Crewing contracts are.

Direct Bondi 21st May 2016 11:42

At the end of the day Goldman Sachs and Korean Air have no association whatsoever with a negotiated trade agreement between the US and Europe. Included in that agreement are stipulated conditions to which both parties agreed (Article 17 bis – social element). If NAI wish to obtain a US foreign air carrier permit they must comply with the agreed conditions, simple as that. Apparently, the smiling rock ape group believes they are an exception.

In addition to Bernie Sanders, Democrat candidate for President, frontrunner Hillary Clinton, is also urging the Obama administration not to move forward with final approval of the NAI permit. In a statement to The Hill political website, Clinton campaign director Nikki Budzinski said:-

“Too many questions have been raised about NAI’s practices and plans”

http://thehill.com/policy/transporta...m-flying-to-us

"Company circumvention of Norway rules cited as reason for discontent"

http://e24.no/utenriks/hillary-clint...egian/23690146

The contentious issues have more to do with labor rights and labor principles rather than rates of pay. A search of this website and the Norway media will reveal some of Norwegian's unsavory labor practices.

.....or if you're a shorthaul captain looking for a change in to long haul you can now apply to as DEC on the 777 with EK. Same workload (?), no union there either, more money. :E

Just received the latest updates with a general email:

The purpose of this email is to give you a brief update of the recruitment to Norwegian’s Boeing 787 fleet, and the status of your application for a flight crew position on the same fleet.

We continue to screen candidates with high intensity. During this summer we plan to screen 250 candidates for courses starting in autumn and winter. Screenings will also continue throughout the year and the years to come.

We continue to expand our Boeing 787 fleet. Today was announced that we have signed an agreement to lease two new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to be delivered in spring 2018. With this new agreement, our long-haul fleet will consist of 42 Dreamliners by 2020. As of today, we have 10 Dreamliners delivered.

So the future will keep us busy, and we need many new pilots.

In 2015, Norwegian was voted the most fuel-efficient transatlantic airline by renowned International Council on Clean Transportation.

Your application is still active. We will contact you further if you fail any step along the selection process, if we need more information from you, or if you progress to the step (being invited to screening).

We do send out emails like this one on a frequent basis, but we have no possibility to give individual updates to the thousands of applicants we have. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact us via this email. Due to heavy workload from time to time, answers may take up to a few days to deliver.

In the meantime, please check that your application in Webcruiter is complete. To assist you, you will find attached a guide to Webcruiter. For contractual issues, please contact Rishworth Aviation.

Almost one year of waiting and they just send these ridicolous emails. Bah...

essexboy 30th May 2016 20:21

Had an application in for 3 years heard nothing other than your application is still active. Don't hold your breath.

captplaystation 31st May 2016 00:57

Your treatment, prior to entering a company, is a a "free", and very important "heads-up", of how you may expect to be treated if you choose to enter . . . . please, dear colleagues, bear this in mind. :hmm:

crossbones 31st May 2016 08:50

Capt. PlayStation and direct bondi what is the obsession you have with Norwegian ? Do you not have anything better to do ? Advice is one thing. Revenge / bitterness / not having a life is quite another. You've made your million points. Bore off now.

JaxofMarlow 31st May 2016 13:19

The only thing I find annoying is the nasty invective used by some. This thread is there to bring out positive/negative aspects of life with NAS and I for one am intrigued at what the future holds here. If NAS are so great I would love to see positive rebuttal of the accusations against them - but it never seems to happen.

Dickcheesecake 31st May 2016 14:07

so Crossbones. What is your problem with Cpt Playstation and Direct Bondi's posts? I think they are spot on and brings valuable info.
Hard to accept reality?

Hear, hear........

As Jaxofmarlow said, if NAS/NAI are such a great employer then where are the hundreds of employees jumping on here to defend them.........

captplaystation 31st May 2016 14:55

My last response was deleted by the Mods, seems - - - - is now a swear word ;)

At the end of the day, no-one is forced to read this thread, and everyone has the right of response.

As long as a company that I invested a few years of my time & efforts into continues to become a worse employer with the passage of each season, I will vent my spleen here.

The Fornebu honchos (now ably aided & abetted by OSM/NAI ) are trying to reinvent a particularly blue/yellow wheel, just as the instigators of these ideas are softening somewhat (to both clients & employees) as the realisation dawns that they cannot alienate their customers, nor lose the percentage of employees that they do, whilst simultaneously continuing their rampant expansion.

In spite of one of the most buoyant seasons for employment recently enjoyed this last 12 mths, NAS seem to think that we are so stupid that they can tread all over market forces & still be overrun with hapless hopefuls, I am here to help disprove this theory.
Sharing knowledge & pre-warning my colleagues in the industry is not some "cause celebre" on my part, I just want to have a clear conscience that I contribute to anyone joining doing so with full knowledge of what they are signing up for, and the fact that the reality may differ somewhat.

If anyone does't wish to hear ? well bury your head in the sand, but when you come on here bleating 9mths later as you face a Winter of unrequested, unexpected (if your head was that deeply buried) unpaid leave, don't expect that I will couch my "Told you so" in cotton wool sympathetic tones . . . . .
