Ok... change of topic time.

I had the dubious honour of being weeded out at the aptitude stages as I couldn't control a laptop mouse down a tunnel, couldn't do the maths quick enough and had a total and utter brain meltdown on the verbal reasoning.

However, despite the contract being discussed ad infinitum, there's quite a few leaving the brownish pastures of Exeter's favourite and I'm a bit jealous.

For anyone in the know... are there any thoughts as to whether this might open up again next year? Or in actual fact, if I should take what the last battery of aptitude tests told me and go and become a carrot farmer in East Anglia??

hobnobanyone - very sorry to hear of your sad demise from the process. Nonetheless, hope springs eternal and the word on the street is that we are likely to take 250 pilots for each of the next few years. There is no formal date being bandied around, but I would guess it would start during early Summer 2014 with interviews over the summer itself. I cannot guarantee that, but that would be a good guess. This is certainly not the end of the story - good luck next time.

EZY is positioned for expansion / contraction depending upon what happens to the global economy. The recently announced Airbus order allows us to go from the current 208 (?) airframes to circa 290 OR 160 by 2021. Expansion is muted at about 5% per year so there will of course be a requirement for new pilots.

Whether or not an unsuccessful application this year precludes future attempts I don't know.......watch this space.

Hi everybody!

question for the ezy pilots flying out of CDG base:

where do expats typically live? area around the airport or city center?

ReallyAnnoyed 15th October 2013 14:12

Central Paris is not exactly cheap nor easy to get in and out of in rush hours, so expats generally don't live in the centre of Paris. Doubt we have many living in Chelsea, Kensington or Mayfair on the rainy rock either.

FANS 17th October 2013 12:50

FANS - Thanks for your insight on that. I am delighted to see that has been revealed to you before it has been revealed to any employees of easyJet.
Everyone is shocked at the T&Cs of RHS despite supply exceeding demand. You should be no more shocked that LHS T&Cs will go do down materially for new captains.

To say you haven't been told or this is not even on EZY's radar reminds me of similar stories in the 1990s about why salaries for b737/a320 RHS would always be reasonably good!

Can anyone confirm what the requirements are to join the command waiting list in Easyjet. Under the NEC has it changed? I was told during selection that you could join the bottom of the list after 2 successful sims and meeting the required factored hours.

Gladremeer 31st October 2013 13:54

Hi everyone. Offered a position at CDG. Could someone confirm whether easyJet pay you in France through the french tax system (and if so the rates) or whether its paid through the British tax system. I'm a Brit.

Any suggestions regarding places to live/ rent etc which are cheap with easy access to the airport along with any advice regarding living in France/ working for easyJet will be gratefully received and very much appreciated (private message me)

Would love to hear from other people already working for easy in CDG or have been offered a position.

JRK110 31st October 2013 14:43

Hi Gladreemer,

Paid in France, in Euros, French social security (~22%) is taken out of your monthly salary and income tax is a bill at the end of the year. Income tax is variable and depends greatly on your domestic situation.

The French contract is the best in ezy both in terms of salary and working conditions. Congratulations on passing the selection!

Roissy is cheap and right next to the airport with buses running to/from the airport from 0500-0100. They're hotel shuttles, but shhhh :ok:

SpGo 31st October 2013 21:20

Indeed 22% social security. If you commute from the UK you will have to pay full UK tax on the remaining 78%.
Contract is good, BUT is under great pressure, the company is working on a secret project called "DEEP DIVE"!
There are also rumors that new entrants will be offered new T&C's, despite refusal from the Union, so be careful with what you sign.

SpGo 1st November 2013 22:18

Wo Ping, go to the SNPL website and read under Asterix documents. You can start to worry now!

Binder 2nd November 2013 03:20

Gladremeer,

Do get your contract 'checked over' by SNPL before you sign and return it.

Don't assume anything if you know what I mean.

Hope you enjoy Paris. Great bases staffed by nice crews who get on with the job despite the negative rhetoric from H89.

Still waiting

After I received the mail that I passed the online tests, I haven't received anything since. :(
I am non type-rated on the Airbus.
Anyone any idea why I haven't received an invitation for the second round? I mailed them, but nothing.
Cheers!

north coast 10th November 2013 19:16

Hi,

Anyone able to give info on flexible roster for a newbie joining at LGW? Average number of days offs, earlies into lates etc??

Thanks

Truckmaster 11th November 2013 18:17

Am interested in same info as North Coast.

RexBanner 20th November 2013 11:48

Any other fellow hold poolers just received the dreaded news that there are no further positions this year? We've got a year apparently until we have to go through the whole process again. Anyone on the inside got any encouraging news for us?

Runbamaca 20th November 2013 17:58

Same for me here! Interviewed early September.
Disgusted...:-( :=:}:mad:

nicob 20th November 2013 18:53

EZY

Do you mean, you were fully successful and now no position offered?
