Just because some Aussies are whingers doesn't mean all are. And I might be one. Realistically though, have talked to a lot of expat pilots over the years and Aussies certainly make their issues and opinions heard loud and clear.

Has anyone heard back who applied for the DEC positions? I would be interested to hear for anyone who has been shortlisted as to their background and experience levels.

Thanks for that. I think that's the end of dreams of many shorthaul narrow body drivers in EZY and FR who thought they were going to jump a couple of steps up the ladder.

A friend of mine has been sent a list of interview dates.
He has in excess of 10k hours with 5k P1 widebody.

What is take home salary+flying allowance+layover allowance PM in usd for a new(completed training)captain in EK.
Assuming this is all for 85 hours.
And do you have a ballpark figure for the profit share. Seems like very few are up to help the new boys.

Capt for 8 year basic @ 42k + @ 5k flying pay last month, 47K = @ 12500 us, you can add @ 1500 ead exchange rate protection and 12% of 42k provident fund. That's it. 18 k us is way better anywhere, the reason alot of pilots are looking outside EK. Begs the question why are these DEC's wanting to go to EK so bad? Some are returners

I have a strong gut feeling most of them don't have this down n dirty. The new ones at least.
16-18k Usd PM take home under all similar conditions seems to be the industry average amongst all my colleagues less than 5 years on the job as captain(bus OR boeing).
Like you said....begs the question.

I was just curious to know if you have had any other word from the airline.

Like yourself when i checked my status on the online application, i found i had been shortlisted but yet have had no dates or inteview dates scheduled..

I completed the online application on the 9th April.

I was just wanting to know if you have heard anything or more, or maybe its an automated response once submitted your application.

For the current EK pilots, would you recommend the airline as a potential employer? I understand no airline is perfect. I am currently working for an airline in decline and am considering a change.

Any constructive input would be gratefully received.

Hey Jimmy. I've been doing a bit of research myself.
Have come to the firm conclusion that Emirates is an amazing airline, with an amazing training system in place and some very very good pilots and employees running the show.
A few are disgruntled, but given the sheer size of its operation, that is to be expected.
Quality of life(by what i've heard/learnt), is excellent and depends mostly on what you make of it. Most consumables are quite cheap.
I believe Emirates is a very fair employer if you are fair to it. However I also believe that in order to attract and retain enough talent from overseas, EK might want to consider tweaking their salary structure a bit. So as to seem competitive enough to the new joiner.
But like someone correctly pointed out earlier, there's no dearth of guys still wanting to join EK out there. Both FO's and DEC's. So, if you are one of them then you should feel good about it. Cause you are in the right place.
Remember, YOU want them and not vice versa. But if you're amongst the best then THEY will want you.
So go out there, do your best and leave the rest to allah.

If you work on a figure of 15000 us per month which has been quoted. That equates to near enough 10,000 sterling per month. Assume 1000 pounds per month is your private pension contribution then put the figures into the calculator below.

I came up with a gross annual salary of 230,000 pounds per year to net 10,000 per month.
That might explain why people from the UK are coming!

I've been at EK for almost 9 years, been a Captain for almost 5. Last month my salary was 7,900 British Pounds, including flight pay for 84 hours at 10 pounds an hour. From that the company takes out 350 pounds as my contribution to the pension scheme and another 35 for my wife's medical insurance. (Your medical insurance is free, you pay for your family.)

Housing is provided but if I didn't take it I would get an extra 2,500 pounds a month- housing in Dubai is expensive.

These are actual figures from an actual payslip. The basic has just gone up by 3% but nothing else has. It is still a good salary but nowhere near the 10,000 pounds a month which is being quoted here.
