toro,

Don't blame that awful weasel that owns RYR, blame the pilots that sold their soul.

condorbaaz 28th February 2012 00:12

WTF...

https://ekgrpapplications.emirates.c...Vacancies.aspx

says..
For DEC..

A minimum of 7000 hours total flying time (only front seat time on turboprop and/or turbojet aircraft can be counted).
A minimum of 3000 hours command time on multi-crew, multi-engine commercial jet aircraft with an MTOW of 50 tonnes or more.

Yet I received an automated reply as

Emirates' minimum requirements for this position are:

Captain

*A minimum of 10,000 hours total flying time.
(May include 25% P3 or FEO time to a max of 500 hr)
*A minimum of 3,000 hours in command of an EK aircraft type or a minimum of 1,500 hours in command of a multi-crew, multi-engine jet aircraft in excess of 55 tonnes MTOW and 1,500 in command of an EK aircraft type
*4,000 hours flown in multi-crew, multi-engine jet or turbo prop aircraft with a MTOW of 10 tonnes or more, as P1 or P2.
*Preference will be given to candidates with Boeing/Airbus EFIS experience who
will be eligible to undertake a short transition course.
*Must be a current Captain operating as PIC within 12 months of joining holding a valid type and instrument rating.

Which will it be? or is it that Someone, as usual, is lagging behind...:ugh:

The first, website snag!

Dani 29th February 2012 07:59

I did a short - well short in relative terms - test application and got an immediate reply within 2 days that I'm in the short list pool. They seem to like me update regularly my hours, so maybe they want more of them.

I guess I have the right ingredients, but I think I'm a little short of wide body hours (less than 1000).

CaptainChipotle 2nd March 2012 20:17

Are any non-type rated B777 or A330/340 guys getting invited out? Just curious. Thanks all.

ManFlex56 3rd March 2012 11:13

Just got an answer back stating I don't have enough total hours.
I have +- 7400 total of which 7100 on a/c above 55T.
4100 command hours.
No widebody experience

australiancalou 4th March 2012 07:48

I have 12000 TT including 5000 CPT and LTC on A330 and more than 7000 CPT longhaul (B747 and A330) plus 2000 CPT jet.
Is that DEC openning interesting for me?
I am afraid not just because the salary and TCs are not good enough!!!!!
EK will get what they are paying for.
Hope guys (FOs) from inside will be thank for the time they gave to EK.
Why don't EK hire TREs from outside for a short time contract (very well paid and in agrement with other airlines) to train senior EK FOs waiting for their medal?;)

16024 4th March 2012 10:54

13000 hrs, 8000 command on 55+ tonnes, but no widebody time. Not a cheep.
I can understand it, they are probably hoping for big bus or big twin time, even RHS would help, I guess.
Hold on, that would be an EK F/O, then...

captjns 4th March 2012 13:12

Max age at EK?

fullforward 4th March 2012 17:16

Hi there Captjins!

Why bother?

You look like a confused man: first you tell the world how happy you're at Jet Airways, at the same time you run to Japan for a Skymark interview (good luck, btw!) and now you're about to taste the sand pit.
This is curious at your probably age, isn't it?
May I suggest you to hire a professional consultancy firm.

South Prince 4th March 2012 18:25

14K total, 7k command on WB, applied 2 years ago for F/O position...........never got a reply;)

Jim-J 4th March 2012 18:44

South Prince

Just curious - 14k TT + 7k 55t at the age of 22??

A340rider 5th March 2012 00:59

South Prince, you can not include your remote control toy plane time when you were a child toward your TT :=

BlackandBrown 5th March 2012 06:29

And I suppose the people who put that they are 1 and live 'wherever crewing them to be' are actually 1 year old geniuses that have no fixed abode because of crewing.

South prince if you are flying for some fly by night on an L1011 using a Garmin 196 for navigation and a wet finger for weather assessment then don't expect a call.

Anyone has an idea of the changes in EK?

Schnowzer 11th March 2012 14:57

7/3k minimum, start at B777/A330 TRE and work down! I think FR might be ok!

Scallywag 16th March 2012 12:07

Max age is 56 according to memo.

Maisk Rotum 18th March 2012 08:22

Direct Entry Captains?

Holy Cr@p. Just looked at the application form. 18 pages!!! I would fall asleep doing all that and seriously need to be commited to expend such valuable energy.

Don't mind the desert, wife happy with the idea-she is not a whinging Pom or Aussie, worked in bigger  than Dubai, occupied cockpits with egos bigger than Charlie Sheen's, worked for some world class airlines and even trained and checked in same so I think I might just fit in and and be reasonably happy.... except.

How much do they pay?

I spoke to an ex EK Captain/Trainer/Checker who left two years ago and after ten years said his pay was around USD20,000. This includes housing and or accom right? Me says. No, he says.

So humour us all who are lurking and MIGHT be interested (particularly if you work in recruitment, training or management).

What will a new DEC take home?

Will EK pay for all my school kids "core" education or are there caveats?

What is the current standard of accomodation for new hires?

Wizofoz 18th March 2012 09:27

Well, I was going to give you some inside info, but then saw your crack about Aussies.

Not the best way to ellicit help....

South Prince 18th March 2012 09:33

What does it matter here? A declared age in an anonymous forum or the fact described? good luck to all:)
