Agree with all that Doug has just said except about little white cloud.
Believe me I am a ringleader in the fight against Cor and gangs tactics, but that childs nonsense has no place in a serious debate about EZY's future.
When I was brand new I recognised that my keeness was not always matched by those around me, but I also recognised how much they knew and how little I knew, but we could all fly an ILS etc. Little white cloud thinks his liscence has granted him all knowing.

So I am afraid Doug, judging by the warm reception he normally gets on here, you are not in a large majority who think he has much to say of substance.

Anyone can see the Ryanisation that is happening at EZY, and it is a serious threat and those both in and out of BALPA in EZY had people had better start smelling some coffee, fast. We are on the back foot here after the pay talks and Cor is just dying to break us. Him and AH are just the old good cop/bad cop routine.

But since this topic is about the holding pool, to those swimming, what you initailly dived in to the pool for maybe not what you end up getting!

Wingswinger 18th December 2007 11:25

Would it not help if we all stopped calling them "Andy" and "Cor"? How about simply Harrison and Vrieswijk.

Doug the Head 18th December 2007 12:35

C & A

You and most people obviously know who we're talking about, so what difference does it make?

Merry Xmas! :p

flap15 18th December 2007 15:54

Doug,
Is this the link to the new cabin crew corporate scanties?...:E

Wingswinger 18th December 2007 18:04

It would remove the faux-mateyness. Or perhaps that's too old-fashioned for some.

Doug the Head 18th December 2007 18:14

"Faux-mateyness"

Errrrrrrrrr.........say what???

So much for my (postmodern ;) ) high school French.

Vrieswijk, Andy, C & A. whatever! :)

JPHIL68 19th December 2007 11:53

You have not started with easyJet that you are already fed up !

By the way guys, with the coming local contract will it be worth being a BALPA member, or that' s better going to French Association (SNPL), Italian association, polish association, etc...
Dont forget, think twice, you want the command so say bye bye to english contract... (Ryanair method with the carotte)

JPHIL68 29th December 2007 22:08

This is the end of the year and still no news:{no mail , no phone call nothing:{

5150 30th December 2007 09:04

Morning water-treaders,

I flew with a chap involved with recruitment at easy the other day and I asked him approximate waiting times for those in the pool;

Answer was around the middle of next year apparently, but remember that this can all change quickly. . .

Arrowhead 31st December 2007 07:11

Fits with what I heard - no deliveries untli Q3/Q4

HmmmgoodOJ 7th January 2008 20:59

Been offered 737 starting in a couple of months, no base yet though.

Anyone have any ideas where I might expect? Luton is my preference.

kick the tires 8th January 2008 07:03

I heard that Luton are next to convert to the wonderful bus. Might be a rumour tho - started by those on the 73 at LTN!!!

5150 8th January 2008 12:49

Not a rumour. LTN is the next base to convert from Boeing to Airbus. Commencing around Aug/Sep depending on delivery dates. First crews are being trained up as we speak.

Norman Stanley Fletcher 8th January 2008 13:11

I also understand that many of our FOs are currently in the BA selection process. On past performance, a significant number of them will be successful and therefore there will be a host of opportunities coming up later in the year for aspiring easyJet pilots. You heard it here first.....

JPHIL68 9th January 2008 16:40

No dep before october..........:ouch:and:ugh:and:sad:and:(and:mad:

flysi 10th January 2008 08:44

I heard recently that I made it into the holding pool. Alas, start date is sometime between October 2008 and September 2009.

Is it likely to be later rather then sooner?

Baffled 22nd January 2008 20:18

hi all

been in the easyjet hold pool for nearly a year, DEC, non rated. The latest info I've been offered reflects that from the website - courses from late this year. Can anybody give me an idea as to why they'll be a requirement for DEC's then? - whats occuring to give rise to that requirement? Surely there's enough promotable FO's? I ask as having had a false start or two I'd rather not be in this position this time next year when I should have taken my labour elsewhere.

cheers

B

SpGo 22nd January 2008 22:28

Hi B,

A lot of F/O's are waiting for their command and a whole bunch of experienced GB F/O's will soon join us , so don't put too many hopes on EZY. Probably no DEC, especially non-rated, in 2008, sorry...

krisschy 23rd January 2008 10:09

EZS

Just to let you know for the ones who have been swimming for a while, a good friend passed the selection process first week of december and was initially told he probably will have to wait up to 6 months to get a French base... beginning of january he rang them back and they proposed him a starting date in february for easyJet Switzerland based in GVA...

His profile 30 years old ATPL, airbus rated with 800 hours...

ATC83 23rd January 2008 10:26

easy have got quite a few fo's coming up for command...but expansion is going to be massive over the next 5 years+. with options on another 120 aircraft...
i'd say keep looking around, but the good news is that if you really want to join easy try again at later date, cause you'll probably get in! and with no seniority list, your not losing out by waiting either :ok:

Jumbodriver74 23rd January 2008 14:58

Easy Switzerland

So it looks like that the Swiss bases get a special deal... In general, is there any big difference between Easy and Easyswiss?

I wait for an answer from them and they told me crew base could be GVA.
what about the rumor of 4 airbus based in Zurich? Beiing half Swiss could help me to get in...

I've been searching in this forum for more infos about Easy Switzerland but without success. Any insider view will be greatly appreciated, thank's!

kick the tires 23rd January 2008 15:59

the plan last autumn was for autumn/winter 2008 to have new 182 F/O's.

There are a lot of new aircraft coming next year.

kick the tires 24th January 2008 23:04

got it wrong! 170 upgrades and 180 new hires, winter 2008/9 is going to be busy!

Baffled 30th January 2008 13:33

SpGo, ATC83 et al

thanks for your thoughts.

And coupled with rated people successfully applying between now and the end of the year I'd best stop holding my breath!

Shame really, felt a good buzz at the Academy.

Good luck

B

morerightrudder 5th February 2008 16:34

Might be a bit slow off the mark but recruitment page has been updated on easy website. All spring courses now allocated. Looks like its going to be a long swim...

36050100 6th February 2008 09:24

Yep, 10 months now.

orangetree 6th February 2008 09:35

All largely in line with what I've heard. No course dates now before autumn. Big lists for internal Commands and only about 8 new Boeing Commands this year..leading straight into another 'summer of discontent'. Many FO's are now shopping around so I would expect a significant number of openings later in the year (many more than Easyjet are planning on :ugh:). They never learn

JB007 6th February 2008 10:03

Where are you guys gonna go though? It's either BA in the UK or The Sandpit?!? You have job security.

5150 6th February 2008 10:10

Many FO's are now shopping around
Why??

They ain't gonna get the opportunity for a quick command anywhere else !

ChocksAwayUK 6th February 2008 11:15

Could be better to think of the very long term (15 years) and jump ship to BA, rather than get trapped at EZ. But then who knows whats going to be happening in 15 years?

That's the dilemma I'm dealing with. hmmmm

BitMoreRightRudder 6th February 2008 11:59

Me too ChocksAway. Have to make a decision this year or I'll be staying put. I know a lot of F/Os at my base who are in the BA application process, or the likes of Etihad. I also think ezy will be losing more F/Os than they are planning for this year. I'm not saying it's a bad place to work, far from it. But if the time to command starts to increase beyond 5 years........

nuageblanc 6th February 2008 12:50

Is 5 years too long to become a captain? is it a race ?

you're just 26 ! come on baby, you still have many many many things to learn before taking a so big responsability.

SX737 6th February 2008 13:11

Latest numbers!

Very recently heard from a management pilot that the company will need around 80 pilots for 2008 but this number will go up to 300 pilots for 2009. This means a temporary halt for 2008 but the pace will pick up starting winter. Good luck to all!

Right Way Up 6th February 2008 13:28

Nuageblanc,
Please stick your oar somewhere else. The comment about 5 years isn't because it is a race, but because for some f/os it balances up the decision between Easyjet and other companies. With quick commands Easy is an attractive bet, however with a longer time some f/os will consider other companies whose command wait times are longer.

ReallyAnnoyed 6th February 2008 14:41

I have to join the chorus of indecision as to the future. Some of the BA guys mentioned in the 747 thread that there will be a requirement for a good number of DEPs on the long haul fleet which seems very tempting. It might be worth putting in an application even though it is very competitive :bored: Oh, decisions, decisions :)

Piece of advice: The ignore function works like a charm against the wind up merchants.

Viking101 14th February 2008 01:05

Merging Airbus list with Boeing for CMD

Well, this is what really is going on with Ezy...

The company has since some time ago, offered former B737 rated pilots, today on the A319 and waiting for their CMD, an upgrade on the B737.

Since the company recruited so (too) many DEC last year, they are only 10 upgrades on the 737 this year. This means that the F/O:s on the 737 and ready for their CMD still has to wait for their turn because of the A319 pilots (that volonteerly went to the Airbus first) getting offered the positions instead. Actually, that will not even happen anymore because the 737 will be phased out for the Airbus.

Not so fun for the Boeing F/O:s though... :yuk:

And yes, for you DEC in a holding pool, I think the call from Ezy will take a while no matter if you have a 737 or E145 rating...

Good luck to you all. :D

TurboJ 14th February 2008 09:15

..........clear as mud

Dutchjock 14th February 2008 10:43

Viking, I think those few beers after Late nr 5 have clouded your judgement :}

This means that the F/O:s on the 737 and ready for their CMD still has to wait for their turn because of the A319 pilots (that volonteerly went to the Airbus first)
Command offers are based on CPI date and positions available. If you haven't got a Boeing rating then you can't get a command on the Boeing and vice versa.

Most people changed to Airbus because their base changed fleet, not to ruin your chance of command.

I know the command process is far from perfect, but I don't think your arguments are valid.
