TFLY day 1

Attended on the 5th of this month. Does anybody know why we didn't do group exercises? With the excitment and all it occured to me only afterwards that we'd skiped this part. If it should be done at stage 2 it sounds like a lot to do in one day if we already have 2 interviews and a sim check, not impossible though I guess.

PPRuNeUser0215 9th July 2006 10:50

I could be wrong but if the company is short of crew (and it is the summer), it is quite possible that they have decided to use the guys for flying duties rather than attending a social gathering ;)

Usually a group session has 3 observers because each one monitors a couple individuals.

monkeyboy 9th July 2006 11:40

Did Stage 1 on the 29th June and was told at the beginning that due to the huge numbers of pilots they needed they had decided to drop the group exercise to try and speed things up.

edited cos i is thick and got the date wrong.....

Did Stage 1 on the 29th July
Nearly a year then so have you heard anything yet Monkey ? ;)

I attended on 30th June and we were told the same thing. They need to see as many as possible so they have dropped the group exercise.

Hello Guys.
I`m curious!

What does the abbreviation TFLY stand for?
Thomson Fly, or is there a company called TFLY;)?
How many hours do you guys have and what are the requirement in TFLY?

Good luck to you all!

Group Exercises

Does anyone have a view that these Group Exercises actually achieve anything at the end of the day.

StudentInDebt 9th July 2006 22:05

d71146 - I found that taking part in the group exercise part of my selection day greatly increased my chances of getting the job.

Pub User 10th July 2006 00:17

They did the same thing a few years ago during a recruitment boom.

They tend to lose the majority of applicants at the first (maths/English) stage, so rather than put everyone through the group exercises they whittle the numbers down first. I think you'll find that if you pass the abbreviated first stage, you will be invited back for a short second stage, which is purely group exercises.

There is normally only one pilot observer on the group exercises, the rest are from HR, so it's not much of a drain on the line.

FBOZH 10th July 2006 13:06

Thank you all for the replies. They told us day 2 would be interviews and simulator "ride". So I guess that's the group exercises out of the window. It's one less chance to cock-up! Good luck to all of us.

AndyDRHuddleston 10th July 2006 13:15

FBOZH, I too was there on the 5th, I was the scouser sat in the front on the left!

Anyways, my cousin went 1 week earlier and had been given teh profiles for the sim at assessment day 1........did I miss them being given out on our day 1???

Cheers....and good luck

Hi Northern highflyer I also attended on the 30th June, have you had a reply yet? I received an email on Friday inviting me to stage two. I'm hoping to attend on the 9th August.

Northern Highflyer 11th July 2006 09:26

Ramjett

I have been invited to stage two and will go for one of the August dates. I might see you there, not sure which one was you on the day. I still can't quite believe it. I only checked my email this morning as I was expecting the 2 to 3 week wait before hearing anything. :ok:

Good luck to the rest and I hope it's good news.

Grum 21st July 2006 12:01

Also waiting

Toppledgyro,

I was also there on the 13th and still waiting for the yey or ney. I'm sure they said four days but they do seem to be incredibly busy at the moment. The first couple of days i was perfectly relaxed thinking i had done everything i could but now the tension is unbearable.

fingers crossed, touching wood and looking for pennies on the street. :ok:

F1REFLY 21st July 2006 12:29

I think it took a week to find out my results for day one

holyflurkingschmitt 26th July 2006 07:49

No still nothing either from the 5th July????

Cant take that long to post a  thanks but no thanks letter can it???

HFS:ok:

kd2473 26th July 2006 08:52

Hi guys,
My understanding is that TFly are currently worried that they overestimated their pilot needs and so people are currently being pooled after stage 1. As and when they decide that they do/don't need any more, they'll decide whether to run any more stage 2s. I imagine the sme goes for anyone who's done stage 2 and hasn't heard anything.
Irritating for everyone!

Gaylord Fokker 26th July 2006 10:42

Hi everybody,
Well, they already said in the invitation that they were recruiting for a pool. I agree that it seems strange that people from July 5th haven't heard anything yet.
kd 2473, is your understanding based on any reliable information?

Good luck to everybody!

holyflurkingschmitt 28th July 2006 09:22

Just bringing the thread back to the top.

Still heard nothing from the 5th July anyone else?

HFS:confused:

AndyDRHuddleston 28th July 2006 09:33

5th July

Nope! Nothing here yet.

EGCC4284 28th July 2006 13:23

Nothing heard from the 7th either

kd2473 28th July 2006 19:36

Yes, understanding based on reliable information.... At that time at any rate (2 weeks ago), but who knows, things change so quickly!

Marvo 3rd August 2006 08:44

Yet the advert still appears on the website! Still awaiting my rejection letter for the 5th....:ugh:

FBOZH 3rd August 2006 16:06

well Marvo if you haven't heard anything yet it could be good news, I hope for you anyway. I attended on the 5th also and got an email on tuesday saying thanks but no thanks. Good luck to all those with no news as yet!

holyflurkingschmitt 4th August 2006 08:55

Also got the PFO email.

Always next year!!

HFS:ok:

AndyDRHuddleston 4th August 2006 09:21

I got the PFO too. Frustrating, when I felt I did so well on the maths! I believe we can find out where we went wrong. Any ideas whether you have to request that or they send it automatically?

Good luck to all those that got through anyhow.
