TFLY day 1

Attended on the 5th of this month. Does anybody know why we didn't do group exercises? With the excitment and all it occured to me only afterwards that we'd skiped this part. If it should be done at stage 2 it sounds like a lot to do in one day if we already have 2 interviews and a sim check, not impossible though I guess.

I could be wrong but if the company is short of crew (and it is the summer), it is quite possible that they have decided to use the guys for flying duties rather than attending a social gathering

Usually a group session has 3 observers because each one monitors a couple individuals.

Did Stage 1 on the 29th June and was told at the beginning that due to the huge numbers of pilots they needed they had decided to drop the group exercise to try and speed things up.

Nearly a year then so have you heard anything yet Monkey ?

I attended on 30th June and we were told the same thing. They need to see as many as possible so they have dropped the group exercise.

Hello Guys.
I`m curious!

What does the abbreviation TFLY stand for?
Thomson Fly, or is there a company called TFLY?
How many hours do you guys have and what are the requirement in TFLY?

Good luck to you all!

Group Exercises

Does anyone have a view that these Group Exercises actually achieve anything at the end of the day.

d71146 - I found that taking part in the group exercise part of my selection day greatly increased my chances of getting the job.

They did the same thing a few years ago during a recruitment boom.

They tend to lose the majority of applicants at the first (maths/English) stage, so rather than put everyone through the group exercises they whittle the numbers down first. I think you'll find that if you pass the abbreviated first stage, you will be invited back for a short second stage, which is purely group exercises.

There is normally only one pilot observer on the group exercises, the rest are from HR, so it's not much of a drain on the line.

Thank you all for the replies. They told us day 2 would be interviews and simulator "ride". So I guess that's the group exercises out of the window. It's one less chance to cock-up! Good luck to all of us.

Hi Northern highflyer I also attended on the 30th June, have you had a reply yet? I received an email on Friday inviting me to stage two. I'm hoping to attend on the 9th August.

I have been invited to stage two and will go for one of the August dates. I might see you there, not sure which one was you on the day. I still can't quite believe it. I only checked my email this morning as I was expecting the 2 to 3 week wait before hearing anything.

Good luck to the rest and I hope it's good news.
