News

Any news or recruitment lately? Or bases to be opened?

Thread has gone terribly quiet...

Fat Dog 5th Sep 2013 06:00

Still ongoing, don't worry.

McBruce 5th Sep 2013 09:22

Had interview with them recently, offered a start date next year so they are working quite a bit ahead of the planned courses.

737 Jockey 5th Sep 2013 15:11

They're overwhelmed with expansion, recruitment, training etc. they need lots of pilots, both seats.... Be patient, and persevere... As my esteemed colleague Captplaystation said... it is definitely worth it!

:ok:

chrian_dk 5th Sep 2013 15:36

when next year...

paleWhite 6th Sep 2013 01:57

@McBruce
Had interview with them recently, offered a start date next year so they are working quite a bit ahead of the planned courses.
how recently? capt or fo position? thanks,

McBruce 6th Sep 2013 03:19

Few months ago for FO position.

paleWhite 6th Sep 2013 07:54

I see, thanks! any info to share concerning interview? which base did they offer you?

Fat Dog 6th Sep 2013 09:38

Anyone have any info about the likely base for the September 23 course?

Thanks

de facto 8th Sep 2013 13:58

I am contemplating applying to Norwegian....i need a bowl of fresh air.
How long is the selection?interview and sim or other?
Thanks:O

chrian_dk 8th Sep 2013 14:32

i called them a month ago, they had interview two days later for me, and start date get this, five later, for the dec position, that was a bit early for me. i'm currently waiting for a date between the 14 and 18th oct, i'll keep you posted...

de facto 9th Sep 2013 08:39

Hi chrian,

Who did you call?:p

LNIDA 9th Sep 2013 13:32

If your type rated and current on the CL/NG then an interview will likely follow, for basing the companies objective is to get people to where they want to be within 6-12 months within the confines of the base structure and core restrictions.

If i recall a further 8 738 due in 2014 and 4 or 5 still to come this year so an extra 12 or 13 aircraft, less any CL disposals

I have done over 12 months and they do what they say on the tin, money is very good, excellent training and a very positive passenger experience suggest they'll be around to stay.

You won't probably know your base until after 2nd week of starting and some do end up in core bases on short term contract (with additional cost of living money) to ensure correct mix of experience with so many new crew.

de facto 9th Sep 2013 13:54

Thanks.

money is very good
How much is it before tax?

kick the tires 9th Sep 2013 22:51

LHS €9500 before tax (from a buddy who just started there)

de facto 10th Sep 2013 05:15

It makes me wanna :{ but thanks for info.
The price for fresh air I guess...

chrian_dk 10th Sep 2013 09:10

it's 8884 euro plus 17 pr. block hour, so at 80 pretty much 10500, before tax. find a contact number online shouldn't be too hard.

ReallyAnnoyed 10th Sep 2013 09:17

You plan on flying 80 x 12 = 960 scheduled block hours per year then?

McBruce 10th Sep 2013 10:04

Maybe he's secretly factored in a few day off payments @ 700e a pop! :E

My names Turkish 10th Sep 2013 10:24

What is the effective tax rate that you pay on that Captains salary for someone based in Spain for examples. The figures quoted are €10,500 gross. SO back of a fag packet maths says thats €10.5K X 12 = €126K a year. What is the overall rate of tax on that sum? 20% 30% 40% ?

What is the average take home per month, net? about €6K?

Kirks gusset 10th Sep 2013 11:17

According to a colleague that went there, (Spain ) around 7 to 7500 a month after taxes. No loss of licence or medical care, however, this can be arranged through the contract " agency"

lear999wa 10th Sep 2013 12:35

ARPI provides a LOL,

chrian_dk 11th Sep 2013 09:29

i don't know who you work for, but i havent had less than two months off in the last ten  years...

mach85 14th Sep 2013 17:09

LGW

Could anyone shed any light on the contracts in place for Captains at LGW? How is the Parc contract taxed. Is there a lower tax on the flight pay or is it all taxed as full income? Also any info on the permanent contract for LGW would be much appreciated. Many thanks to all kind enough to contribute.

LeftHeadingNorth 18th Sep 2013 10:56

I would suggest that you call the contract agency as ppl on this website will have very little knowledge whether you have a chance or not.

Jet Fuel Addict 18th Sep 2013 17:18

some of these people are getting interviews directly through DY...
You mean with less than the minimum requirements? (1500 total time, 737 rated,...)

JStone 19th Sep 2013 08:10

Question

Can someone tell me what DY is?

Thanks

737 Jockey 19th Sep 2013 08:24

DY = IATA Code for Norwegian
NAX = ICAO code
All our flight numbers are DY....

Jet Fuel Addict 19th Sep 2013 09:02

Well then I think you just answered your own question. It seems you do have a chance of getting in. Now you just have to find out how they did it :E

NORWEGIA CAPTAIN ASSESMENT

Anybody has any feedback how is the selection process in Norwegian for Direct entry captains?? thanx

737 Jockey 19th Sep 2013 20:33

:ugh:

Try reading/searching the damn thread...

Out of goodwill, try Page 6

:ugh:

michalis1 19th Sep 2013 21:45

hehe...I did two months ago and I thanked you already....now they called me for interview and I was looking for some more opinions.....I am new here and I don't really know how to use this web....:hmm:

LNIDA 20th Sep 2013 02:42

The BLH payment for Captains is €17 how much you earn really depends on your base, but BLH for flying are only part of it, you also get 4 x BLH for each standby duty 4 x17 = €68 and 10 days is not unusual in say LPA where there are few flights, but very long duty days on say ARN or OSL and back and your BLH is from report.

When you start you are allocated an agency, but can change after one month to the agency of your choice from the 3 used.

There will be ongoing recruitment for the foreseeable future to feed fleet expansion (10 new 738 delivered so far this year with a further 4 due before year end) with more deliveries due in 2014.

It is worth visiting their investor relations website at lot of useful info on their, being a public company they are very transparent

jeehaa 20th Sep 2013 12:55

@ John: I actually have the exact same feeling.

mototopo 22nd Sep 2013 08:46

Hi there,
Do you have any ideas about screenings to NTR FO guys?
Is that "Extensive experience on similar types may be considered (MD80, A320 series etc.)" true? And, how much would be that "extensive"??

Thanks much:ok:

Alexander de Meerkat 22nd Sep 2013 22:02

john_smith - that is about the only way Norwegian are going to make a sustainable profit, so it seems like a good ploy. I wait with interest to see if a single one of their Airbus slots are ever actually used.

antonov09 22nd Sep 2013 22:14

I have flown with them three times. Very nice experience on all three occasions. Text message to confirm you are checked in, text message to let you know if they running behind schedule, well turned out crew, Free WiFi on board, and three less seats for extra leg room. And no "big sell" via the dreaded PA. Aircraft was full on all three occasions with 180 or so very content passengers.

They are the third biggest budget operator in Europe and are streets ahead of Easy and worlds away from Ryanair with regard to passenger experience IMHO.

Weather it's sustainable remains to be seen.
