The decision has now been made and those affected will have been contacted.

I have no further information to offer.

One guy from the Hold Pool contacted me with a legitimate question now answered.

I then asked in post #435 that nobody PM me.

Since then, 5 have done so, all asking for information on the selection process that I have already said I don't have! Why?

Here's a few tips though.:mad::ugh::{

1. Read the information given in previous posts.
2. Follow simple requests to do / not do the simplest of things.
3. Learn to spell the name of the company you are trying to convince it is a good idea for them to employ you!

what rostering agreement do you have in place at thomson?

are you guaranteed a certain number of days off a month, and are they usually bunched together (few days work, couple days off etc) or is it more like every other day working?

do you guys have standbys? (home/airport) or are you kind of permanently on standby?

Might I suggest that if you are lucky enough to be invited for interview then these sort of questions are good for the day. I am sure they can be asked at interview (formal stage) or over coffee, as there is loads of time during the process for interaction with company staff.

Lead, rostering agreement is about a thousand pages long so impossible to answer too many questions. But its evolved over about 40 years, it protects the pilots pretty well with some exceptions, 18-30 hour rest periods for example are not nailed down but are punitive (i.e. the system tries to avoid) in our roster system.

10/11 days off each month, random rostering, very unusual to have single days off, standbys are in blocks always at home & only for four hours. I tend to get 4 blocks of 4 days or so a year. Winters are quieter in general, 20 days off in Feb for me. Bidding system works better for some than others, depends how IT competent you are!

Have been invited to an assessment for Thomson "fixed term" employment, is this likely to be just a summer contract then be dropped for the winter? Or is there a possibility of continued employment, any info appreciated!:)

No window dressing here, promise!

Things have definitely been watered down in the past couple of years but I can only speak from my experience.

I'm 756 & I run at about 750/year with a fair bit of flexi thrown in, I and a few of my (756) mates are v quiet in Feb, don't know why...

I had one single day off rostered in 2013.

I admit our fleet seems to be having it the easiest at the minute though...

All the previous pilots who have joined on fixed term contracts with the exception of a very few who, following a file review were not invited back, have been offered permanent positions at the end of their term. This is, however, in no way guaranteed, and these positions currently on offer are to crew two aircraft, one at EDI and one at LBA for summer 14. These were originally to be Canadian aircraft from Sunwing, but for various reasons that has not materialised. Provided the issues can be resolved these bases could well be covered by the Canadians in following seasons, thus reducing the requirement for pilots. That is why some of the positions are on the basis you have been offered. Crystal ball required I'm afraid.

I am also invited, seems to be its only one interview day with 8 positions.
Any rumors about how many they are suppose to hire for this "fixed term" position? Is it only for EDI and LBA? Cheers

It's about 8 or 9 fixed term positions as a result of extra short notice work at Leeds and Edinburgh. I don't think the positions themselves are restricted to those bases.

The info above from Matey, Ocean and DC is correct.

The Fixed Termers are just that. The advice given to them by me and my predecessor is head down, a#*e up and there is a good chance you will be looked at for Permanent Contracts should the need arise and of course, should you wish to take the offer. Why wouldn't the company take a "known" quantity? Sadly, some chose not to take that advice and were "known" for the wrong reasons.

Some also looked at TOM and when offered positions decided to move on, AFAIAA, one for family reasons and two to return to their homeland.

The bases for Fixed Termers will be part of the offer, you will not go on the seniority list and will not be able to go on the base bid. There is a free bid for pilots already in TOM on Permanent Contracts and those just joining will also be part of that. Fixed Termers are at the bottom of the pile.

Should you be offered Permanent Contracts, you go on the list. There are currently 4 Cadets in the system in the same boat, it is my understanding and to be absolutely honest, my strong wish, that these Cadets would get looked at first. Apart from anything else, they have already started.
