That's because everything is crap and everyone has been leaving to work at better companies:E

For someone currently on the list, I have had a fantastic time over the last 7yrs. Done most things from short haul to long haul, small base to big base, winter contract in Canada and the Hajj.

The problem is though at TOM it is just just a job with Little light at the end of the tunnel. Yes you will get your LHS but there are just so many other interesting things out there between now and probably 15yrs minimum.

I would recommend it if your happy and settled in the UK.

Good luck to all.

And can stay in for the 5+ years needed to reach a point high enough up the list to start feeling safe from redundancy without getting chopped. Don't forget this mob made over 100 pilots redundant just 3 years ago!

I considered reapplying because Thomson can be a great place once senior enough, but all the money in the world wouldn't be enough to make me risk putting myself and my family through what I experienced during my last 2 years at Thomson all over again.

Anyone heard anything more regarding interviews? Have all the people not being brought to interview been told now?

Pin Head 7th Oct 2013 18:28

Forgot to add - I'm leaving.

There was an automatic chop of everyone who applied with less than 2500 hours. No one else has heard anything with regards to interview, but I imagine it'll be pretty soon.

Where did you hear that? Certainly not the case for a number of people I know.

I have received nothing yet. Checked my email on the TUI login page but nothing. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing?

Good luck to everyone!

Can anyone explain the bond situation with Thomson. Even though you are type rated do you have to pay some of your training cost up front or is it all a reducing bond, say over 3 years?

Thanks

rjay259 16th Oct 2013 16:15

Not sure of the score at the moment but generally it will be a reducing bond over a time period and fixed to type for five years (I think).
It would be confirmed at interview contract issue.

<cynical>

A couple of experienced folk to keep BALPA happy and then the rest CTC?

</cynical>

Aerofoil 17th Oct 2013 03:22

As far as I know there won't be a single person from CTC...

Matey 17th Oct 2013 22:11

Aerofoil is correct. The only ( very limited number) cadet entry pilots this time round have been sourced from candidates with the requisite qualifications already working within the group in other roles. This is as a result of the agreement reached between the Company and our Company Council specifically precluding the use of cadets put forward by CTC, and directing the money in "agency fees" previously paid to CTC to the cadets instead in improved contracts.

As to what criteria the Company are applying in order to arrive at a list of interviewees from the many hundreds of applications, I am not privy to that.

Update:

Just been informed that over 400 applications for less than 20 posts for type rated applicants. Interviews scheduled for mid to late November for a join date in February.
