Does anybody know how many pilots will be required for the new base at Southend and whether further recruitment would be required? Cheers guys!! Ps I appreciate this is probably difficult to answer
|
Nope, very easy to answer - 18 captains from STN and 18 existing flexi-crew.
This is simply moving three aircraft from STN to SEN, therefore no extra crew required. |
Thanks very much. Thats answered my question. You seem to know what's going on. Do you know if they are going to recruit in aug/sept for pilots/cadets as understood they had a pilot shortage. Thanks again
|
Next question is....... Whats the next base! LIS, BCN or AMS??
LIS - contracts signed but delayed until Jan (for terminal refurbishment to be completed), BCN - big empty old terminal AMS, well its already a hub with fantastic service, but no crew or aircraft. |
Here we go folks, more proof that appeasement NSF-style does NOT WORK!!
CNN.com: "Nice guys earn less." But hey, BALPA appears to have woken up so everybody is in good hands ey? :ugh: |
Dual base SEN & STN?
|
Indeed, you are now "Essex" based . . . . . :ugh: :yuk:
|
Any gossip about recruitment then? We're getting desperate out here..
|
Unless the economic wheels come off, another few hundred FO's next year (Oct-Oct).
|
Superced, what's your story? Did you work for Easyjet and leave? If so, when did you leave. What's your position now?
|
Superced - just do us all a favour and stop whining about easyJet. You have left, thank goodness, in search of El Dorado. You hated Ryanair and left them before coming to easyJet and then hating them too. You now work somewhere else and will no doubt soon be hating that too.
Maybe you can find a job for your chum Doug the Head. The poor soul is about to blow a gasket working even another day for easyJet. Sadly, he cannot seem to find a better employer anywhere in the world, or presumably he would have gone there. Couple that bitter pill to swallow with his obsession about NSF, who incidentally seems to no longer frequent PPruNe, and you have a tragic man using way too many heartbeats up worrying about the questions no one is asking. All very heartbreaking as that is, surely there must be more pressing things to occupy yourself with now you have been welcomed into the fold at Air Bratwurst, or wherever it is you have now graced with your presence. |
Thanks nonemmet
So is that to say a new recruitment drive traditionally starts in October? I am particularly interested in TRSS. Any news on that? |
I was involved in a cadet line check the other week. The trainer said that there were another 300 cadets scheduled for next year. Only means of entry will be CTC/PARC flexi contracts.
A real shame that we won't be taking this oppurtunity to broaden the depth of experience amongst FO's and get some guys with other airline/mil experience. We desparately need it at the moment. |
Makes sense: if you are in the CTC or OAA hold you rather wait a few months more and go direct to BA instead of paying too much for your TR
|
There are rumours of TRSS opening up again to 'plug the gap' - It might not be the old TRSS, but it's certainly being talked about in recent weeks . . .
|
I heard a figure of 300 too, and that there has been discussion over how to fill the experience gap now developing. The EJ financial year runs Oct-Oct, not sure of there is a recruitment season as such.
|
Parc will be looking for people who are current with 500h on type again soon, 300 is also a number I heard.
Shame ej still aren't hiring directly, I sometimes ask myself how attractive these contracts are compared to other offerings abroad. S. |
The word on the street here at Planet Orange is that there will be 300 pilots taken on next year, of which 100 will be 'experienced'. There is no detail yet as to what that means or if we will be conducting our own selection. There will also be around 150 internal commands. It is easy to knock easyJet, but right now there are few companies in Europe offering these types of opportunities on that scale. On a note of caution, I have also learnt that our ex-Ryanair Operation Director has just employed one of his mates from said outfit to look after recruitment etc. That does not bode well at all, frankly.
If ever you wanted a warning about how wrong it can go, just look at Tiger Airways in Australia who have been effectively shut down by CASA on safety grounds. It is a disaster for the company and employees alike. One of the areas where safety cannot be compromised is that of pilot recruitment. Any policy that takes the cheapest rather than the best in this area seems destined to end in tears to me. |
One of the areas where safety cannot be compromised is that of pilot recruitment. If I ran a PLC and good people were leaving, I would do what was necessary to get them to stay? Would not you..? EK, VS and BA have hoovered up good peeps and in your own words, "a polished product". No letters of thanks, no letters or calls to ask 'why not stay, we can offer you this'..? It would have taken a part-time contract and a salary increase in line with the ex-BA skippers to have made me stay. (With a 5-4-5-3 roster for 30 years+, who do EZY think they will retain for a career?) |
EZY......Please open a base on the south coast!!!!!! Nice new terminal @ BOH waiting to be utilised to keep the punters happy. Nothing to do with me wanting a 20 minute drive to work of course :E
