EZS

Just to let you know for the ones who have been swimming for a while, a good friend passed the selection process first week of december and was initially told he probably will have to wait up to 6 months to get a French base... beginning of january he rang them back and they proposed him a starting date in february for easyJet Switzerland based in GVA...

His profile 30 years old ATPL, airbus rated with 800 hours...

ATC83 23rd Jan 2008 10:26

easy have got quite a few fo's coming up for command...but expansion is going to be massive over the next 5 years+. with options on another 120 aircraft...
i'd say keep looking around, but the good news is that if you really want to join easy try again at later date, cause you'll probably get in! and with no seniority list, your not losing out by waiting either :ok:

Easy Switzerland

So it looks like that the Swiss bases get a special deal... In general, is there any big difference between Easy and Easyswiss?

I wait for an answer from them and they told me crew base could be GVA.
what about the rumor of 4 airbus based in Zurich? Beiing half Swiss could help me to get in...

I've been searching in this forum for more infos about Easy Switzerland but without success. Any insider view will be greatly appreciated, thank's!

the plan last autumn was for autumn/winter 2008 to have new 182 F/O's.

There are a lot of new aircraft coming next year.

kick the tires 24th Jan 2008 23:04

got it wrong! 170 upgrades and 180 new hires, winter 2008/9 is going to be busy!

SpGo, ATC83 et al

thanks for your thoughts.

And coupled with rated people successfully applying between now and the end of the year I'd best stop holding my breath!

Shame really, felt a good buzz at the Academy.

Good luck

Might be a bit slow off the mark but recruitment page has been updated on easy website. All spring courses now allocated. Looks like its going to be a long swim...

36050100 6th Feb 2008 09:24

Yep, 10 months now.

orangetree 6th Feb 2008 09:35

All largely in line with what I've heard. No course dates now before autumn. Big lists for internal Commands and only about 8 new Boeing Commands this year..leading straight into another 'summer of discontent'. Many FO's are now shopping around so I would expect a significant number of openings later in the year (many more than Easyjet are planning on :ugh:). They never learn

JB007 6th Feb 2008 10:03

Where are you guys gonna go though? It's either BA in the UK or The Sandpit?!? You have job security.

Many FO's are now shopping around
Why??

They ain't gonna get the opportunity for a quick command anywhere else !

ChocksAwayUK 6th Feb 2008 11:15

Could be better to think of the very long term (15 years) and jump ship to BA, rather than get trapped at EZ. But then who knows whats going to be happening in 15 years?

That's the dilemma I'm dealing with. hmmmm

BitMoreRightRudder 6th Feb 2008 11:59

Me too ChocksAway. Have to make a decision this year or I'll be staying put. I know a lot of F/Os at my base who are in the BA application process, or the likes of Etihad. I also think ezy will be losing more F/Os than they are planning for this year. I'm not saying it's a bad place to work, far from it. But if the time to command starts to increase beyond 5 years........

nuageblanc 6th Feb 2008 12:50

Is 5 years too long to become a captain? is it a race ?

you're just 26 ! come on baby, you still have many many many things to learn before taking a so big responsability.

Latest numbers!

Very recently heard from a management pilot that the company will need around 80 pilots for 2008 but this number will go up to 300 pilots for 2009. This means a temporary halt for 2008 but the pace will pick up starting winter. Good luck to all!

Right Way Up 6th Feb 2008 13:28

Nuageblanc,
Please stick your oar somewhere else. The comment about 5 years isn't because it is a race, but because for some f/os it balances up the decision between Easyjet and other companies. With quick commands Easy is an attractive bet, however with a longer time some f/os will consider other companies whose command wait times are longer.

ReallyAnnoyed 6th Feb 2008 14:41

I have to join the chorus of indecision as to the future. Some of the BA guys mentioned in the 747 thread that there will be a requirement for a good number of DEPs on the long haul fleet which seems very tempting. It might be worth putting in an application even though it is very competitive :bored: Oh, decisions, decisions :)

Piece of advice: The ignore function works like a charm against the wind up merchants.

Merging Airbus list with Boeing for CMD

Well, this is what really is going on with Ezy...

The company has since some time ago, offered former B737 rated pilots, today on the A319 and waiting for their CMD, an upgrade on the B737.

Since the company recruited so (too) many DEC last year, they are only 10 upgrades on the 737 this year. This means that the F/O:s on the 737 and ready for their CMD still has to wait for their turn because of the A319 pilots (that volonteerly went to the Airbus first) getting offered the positions instead. Actually, that will not even happen anymore because the 737 will be phased out for the Airbus.

Not so fun for the Boeing F/O:s though... :yuk:

And yes, for you DEC in a holding pool, I think the call from Ezy will take a while no matter if you have a 737 or E145 rating...

Good luck to you all. :D

..........clear as mud

Viking, I think those few beers after Late nr 5 have clouded your judgement :}

Command offers are based on CPI date and positions available. If you haven't got a Boeing rating then you can't get a command on the Boeing and vice versa.

Most people changed to Airbus because their base changed fleet, not to ruin your chance of command.

I know the command process is far from perfect, but I don't think your arguments are valid.
