I am an engineer at Flybe.Con.
I can confirm that the Dashes are still flying.
A lot of pilots from all fleets are trying to leave the company, many have gone.
if you got taken on flying the Dash I'm sure that you would end up on q400 or a jet within 12mths, looks like there will be a massive crew shortage.

Although you would almost certainly be required to complete the full course, technically you are rated on the Q400 if you have have the -300 rating. It's a very different ship, though. The advantage to you is that, as a rated applicant, the bond is far smaller and for a shorter period.
The requirement for crews continues, especially if you are suitable for an early command. The only avenue through which to apply is the online form at flybe.com .

My understanding is that it is a two day conversion if you are current on the -300.

Hi, I was current on the Q200/300 and did the conversion course to the Q400. I now fly the A321 but as I remember it was about 5 days which consisted of 2 days computer based ground school (in Stockholm for me ) and 3 days / sessions in the sim.....It was all very gentlemanly and straight forwards, I think you will enjoy it. Q400 is quite different but a nice modern plane to fly if a little un-reliable. You will probably get to practice your abnormal/emergency situations though so you will learn quite a lot. :eek: Let me know if I can be of any more help.

Thanks for that.. Sounds more like it. Somewhere in between, full course seemed a little over kill and two days a little too gentle!

As for the 400 and Abnormal/Emergency Sits, the -300 isn't much better (The ones I've come across).. Should be a home from home!

Best go and get the info from the horses mouth now and see how much it'll cost me and how much more I'll get paid etc!! Will pass on any Info I get..

according to my last call to FlyBe HR, recruitment is largely focused on Capt and fast track command F/O, next interviews to be held next week.

Pure F/O recruitment will restart as soon as current capt shortage is addressed.

I heard there are plenty of Flybe Q400 awaiting delivery from Canada sitting grounded due lack of pilots - Captains certainly seems to be the issue. Can't think why. :mad: :\

That is the most prominent and desperate ad I've ever seen if Flight. They are not going to be able to fly their fleet and it can only be good for all of us. If they were really paying what they say in the ad then I might be interested but it is all smoke and mirrors, the quoted pay is only for top increment after several years in the company.

You dont get to the £90K package until about year 17 on the the 195. So the company is blatantly advertising reward for a position which only exists by long service. A con pure and simple

So if any one is stupid enough to fall for these conmen then heaven knows what tricks theyll be up to once you are ensnared. Plenty of research material available here.

You should ask yourself why everyone in BA Connect who can is getting out.

Said company are notorious for roster instability and recent attempts to introduce some modicum of control have been met with near hysteria by Jim French who believes that a scheduling agreement is the work of Satan himself.

So, no restrictions on how many sectors you can fly and your day can be extended four hours without notice.

How is that compatible with picking the kids up from school?......... and youll be too knackered to do anything but sleep when you finish..

If the goon responsible for this desperate drive to attract what Ba Connect pilots rejected en mass is who I think he is then time Jim gave him the order of the boot. We saw through him the minute he arrived. He talks the talk.........but that's all.

So has anyone reported the advertisement to the Advertising Standards Authority - honest, legal, decent?

I have to say that having deliberately kept out of all the mud slinging about the BA Connect take over this advertising campaign is deeply offensive.

As a pilot who works for Ba Connect and would like to see this work despite the promise of less pay, harder work and massive disruption the statements made are at best misleading and at worst deceptive.

The pay and conditions headlined are not available to joiners.

Had FLYBE made even the slightest attempt to encourage us to stay then they would not be facing the massive shortage of pilots that this campaign is supposed to address. Instead of that we have been patronised and lectured to and told how lucky we are that FLYBE came along so we'd better shut up and take whatever.........

I am now going to join the queue for the exit as this is the last straw.

If anyone is looking for objective opinions on Flybe, PPrune is the last place to look just at the moment. There are far too many people (most of whom do not work and have never have worked for the company) who have axes to grind. Is there anybody out there who works for the perfect company? If so please let us all know so that we can submit our applications.

In the mean time ppjn is worth a look for payscales.
