I'd be all for an all-encompassing ballot but, again, I'd be very surprised. It would give the company little negotiating room.

New BA sim check for SSP's
I understand that not many will probably have any info on this topic, as it is a fairly recent change, but anyone with info on the new 747 sim check for low hour SSP's would be greatly appreciated.

Don't you just love people who jump into a thread with no intention of helping to answer the question posed. Instead, fire off some sarcastic chip on the shoulder comments, along with some numbers that are pulled out of their nether regions. :rolleyes:
It might be worth noting that from dreamer1's post it appears he has already gone down the SSP route and thus probably doesn't need a lecture on not doing it. And even better than that, it sounds like he has an interview/sim assesment lined up. Good on him! :ok: People are so ready to pull each other down, whether its integrated vs modular, or just infighting between schools. Maybe its out of fear that they might have taken the wrong route and thus need to justify it at every step by destroying other peoples hopes :confused: |
Goodwxpilot - As Wazzoo has already said, stop talking out of your ar$e. (OK, I may be paraphrasing here!)
There is nothing to indicate that Dreamer1 paid £70k for his training. (S)He might have, but (s)he might not have. I don't know of a single major scheduled or charter Jet operator(in the UK) that will take on a newly qualified pilot, type rate them and then pay them the full FO wage. If you do, by all means get your CV in but you don't know what you're talking about. Anyone in this position will join on a S.O. (or TEP in BA) salary to pay back some of the training costs. If Dreamer1 gets in, then (s)he's pretty much made for life, a nice place to be. The BA min DEP req's are now 750hrs, or at least they were the last time BA advertised on their site for recruitment, so not exactly low houred. Not often a (wannabe?)pilot is told this, but get your head out of the clouds (and your ar$e) and wisen up.:hmm: |
Best of luck to the guys in yesterday, on the way home my head was spinning like manikin man !! It really is a busy day can't stress how important a good nights sleep is before, so much information on here about the day but if you schedule to do it on a day off between busy rostered work days it's taxing on the old brain !! Hindsight for me would suggest a day off before doing it. :zzz:

I went along to the assessment a couple of weeks back, I can say that it was an interesting experience.
Most of the items posted on here are pretty accurate, there are a few very small differences, but nothing to even bother about trying to re-invent the wheel. The sim was conducted in the 747-400, again no surprises, you dont need to be superman...you need to be ahead of the aircraft, thoughtful, display good crm, and most of all be yourself:ok: Got offered the job...turned it down though, on reflection not the place for me:ok: |
