Got really interested when I heard about this AOC, started to research and actually found out that conditions were not that great. As an FO forget about command.
There are ongoing rumors of a maltese AOC , probably happening later this year.
Fleet situation is very unclear, last year they were advertising a major fleet expansion that never materialized.
Also, they might order a fleet of 777F soon

A lot of the above is incorrect.
Currently four aircraft flying, with a fifth undergoing conversion. European own a further 6 or so which the plan is to convert over the next 12 months. There is certainly enough work for 9 aircraft
If an F/O was to work 18 days per month for 12 months minus leave and ground school/sim days the salary is a whisker over £100K which isn’t bad. However the average is 12-14 days work per month
In a perfect world all new commands would be internal upgrades, but given that many do not have the hours or experience the need for DEc’s will exist for some time, but all FO/s who have the experience and pass the command assessment are getting promoted very quickly. The current 2 going through their command have been in the company about one year. Over the past 12 months or so approx half of new commands have been internal, and that trend will continue for the foreseeable
I agree that only operating to China can get a bit dull after a while, but once more aircraft start on line that new destinations may appear. It wasn’t that long ago that European operated 4 times a week to JFK for 18 months or so and Buenos Aries twice a week for 6 months, so who knows what the future holds.

China is where the business is I guess . What’s the rough payload of one of these Airbus ? Are we talking 100 T ?

Weight wise the max is about 80T although like all cargo aircraft it can be easy to bulk out before you weight out.
Given that the company has been discreetly been bought out by Blackstone there is enough to suggest that the cash is there to invest. Our American cousins from a company that big wouldn’t bother otherwise.
It is not a job for everyone, but if you have had enough of corporate nonsense and HR dictats, like the idea of flying in comfortable clothing, and can’t face another day of 4 sectors for 5 straight days. It is a very old school airline where the Pilots are treated like adults and the professionals that they are. Autopilot in or out… ? Auto thrust in our out….. ? Up to you as you are treated as a professional. This will probably resonate well with anyone who has been in the game for 25 years or so, but for some younger Pilots might seem a bit scary.
Recruitment is ongoing for the foreseeable

What a load of tosh…. Maltese AOC disappeared long ago. FOs working an average amount (12-14 days a month,5-600 hours a year) make over £100k a year, Captains over £150k. Recruiting DECs because they ran out of FOs to promote, youngest Captain just got promoted age 30, latest FOs through command selection have been in the company less than 12 months. Plenty of opportunities in management and training for those interested.
Fleet is currently 4 A340s online, 2 more modified in scheduled maintenance and at least another 5 awaiting awaiting modification and most likely many more. Both 777s and 330s rumoured and a simulator alledgedly on the way.
Not for everyone, but vast majority are very happy.
