Would you mind elaborating on what the rumours you’ve heard are?

Rumour has it BALPA will be tabling proposals in the next few weeks. The basic premise is there will be a second pay structure to make shorthaul commands more attractive. It’s a different pay structure, when you take a command you can either opt to stay on the current 34 point pay scale, or transfer to the new one which is more front loaded so higher pay early on. Apparently it’s designed to compete with EZY numbers.

People are not dissuaded from bidding for SH commands for financial reasons that much is absolutely certain. I would suggest the issues with the lack of popularity of SH commands are almost exclusively lifestyle ones and how utterly unappealing LHR SH is. A front loading of pay is not going to fix that. If there is anything to this rumour (and there’s nothing on the flight crew hub forum) I’m pretty sure BALPA are aware of this fact.

🙋 Dissuaded from bidding for SH command due to financial reasons as well as lifestyle reasons. Many other P320L are the same.

I’d agree with you on the FCH side of things though; I’d expect to see it on there before here

No apologies necessary! Two different approaches to it.

I’ve flown with more than a few LH P2 captain converts who have said they’re only sat in the seat for pension reasons

There have been rumours of pay restructuring for quite some time now. The motivation for these talks is rumoured to have very little to do with attracting more bids for short haul commands, although front loaded career earnings may well motivate some more folk to do so.

Hey guys,

can anyone provide me with infos about the capacity test / eagle test?
How can I prepare for that? Sky test or is there any other training software?
Thanks.

Same here. Yes moving up the FO SH list is great. LHS is only around 20% extra in pay. Yes you get more in pension but for me the increase in pay is not worth being bottom of C320.

If they start offering Easy LHS pay I would consider bidding for LHS. At present it’s a strong NO from me.

I strongly suspect the long haul P2 converts Kendrick referred to, were talking about doing it for their NAPS pensions, not BAPP.

Same here too. It’s one thing working every weekend but doing it for about a third less than Easy skipper? No thanks.

As it happens I’m off to long haul but I’d have seriously considered 320 LHS if it was even remotely competitive on salary.

What effect do the lower pension contributions for lets say 7 years have long term in your scenario?

I would already have said when the subject first popped up on hear a long time ago, if I felt it was something I should be sharing on a public forum. It isn’t.

Apparently, one BA pilot is contesting the fact that the legacy contract is 24 years of pay increases, whilst the newer contract is a pay increase over 34 years. and following a victory for a tesco worker who claimed they were on a different pay grade than others for effectively doing the same job, someone at BA is supposedly contesting the same principle.

Hello everybody. Getting ready for my eagle test as well. I actually bought a SkyTest package some time ago in preparation for an assessment for another airline. However, SkyTest has a lot of different software packages and mine certainly doesn't have anything involving planes descending. Could someone point me to the package most similar to the Eagle assessment?

Any other information regarding the technical tests on the final assessment day of BA would be very much appreciated, here on in a DM.

Thanks in advance and good luck to the other candidates!

Heard from friends that “very junior” FOs from the direct entry pilot - long haul pathway are having bids accepted for SH Commands at LHR and Euroflyer way before the freeze is over.

On the assumption that these FOs were operating in the left hand seat at previous carriers before joining BA, surely BA are just robbing Peter to pay Paul here, since they will then have to backfill those now missing Junior Long Haul FOs?

Evening All,

For experienced Airbus pilots, does anyone know how long people are waiting to start a course with BA from being offered employment? I learnt the other day that brand new 200 hour guys are having to wait until early next year to start (full type rating etc). Was just wondering if they are fast tracking experience guys who only need to do a short course?

Any information from people who have recently been offered employment would be well received.

Thanks.

How does the command process (SH) at BA compare to easyJet’s which IMHO is very long winded and complicated?
