Hold pool

Anyone else getting radio silence?

I entered the hold pool in Jan, but since March I no longer get the hold pool updates and my portal says ‘we have received your application’, when it was saying awaiting update prior to March.

A few guys who attended my assessment date have been given start dates, starting to wonder if I’ve been rejected for some reason

Does anybody have any link or recommendation for practicing the online assesments please?

Are we offering SFO on entry now? We have a minimum time at airline and hours that needs to be met so would be surprised if you join as an SFO. Ge5 ready for the 2 stripes lol

You won't be vetted until you have been offered a position and signed a contract. As far as I know the DFO has nothing to do with day to day recruitment activities.

I've never started the vetting process until after I've signed a contract and got a start date

Yeah, I’m similar. Entered the hold pool at the end of January and have only received the generic update emails since. Couple of emails sent to recruitment but no answer. My portal does still say awaiting update, but having had no communication at all is frustrating especially when other candidates have been offered start dates since then.

Resigning before vetting

The vetting is an integral part of the contract , no vetting means no contract . So how is it possible to resign from previous company without vetting .. frankly it’s not possible . One resigns only later to find Jet2 recruitment changes its mind or vetting doesn’t complete, leaving one then without a job..
Anyone has Flight Ops Director’s name ?

A 5 second Google will reveal the info you require, so why bother to ask here?

Vetting? Do you mean previous employer references or 5 year history vetting for issue of an airside ID, 2 very different things. If you resigned from a job without a job offer and contract, well that would be a questionable decision. Part of the contract states you must be able to provide a 5 year employment history and be issued an airport ID, failure to comply with that would render the contract null and void I’d imagine.

This is how it works at every UK airline as far as I’m aware?

I may be misinterpreting your tone, but you sound a bit angry about it. Contacting the DFO won’t help things as he has bigger fish to fry.

For a bit of a heads up, Jet2 is a fantastic place to work for those who are well versed in practicing the art of humility. Not so much for those who bang their fist on the table. Have you applied for NTR, or is it for a training position?

Is "well versed in practicing the art of humility" a Jet2 cult colloquialism for being highly proficient at bending over and taking it whilst keeping ones mouth firmly shut?

Personally, I don’t recognise what is alluded to in the above two posts. I’ve not been at Jet2 that long, but overall, the senior management attitude, flight ops management and day to day colleagues are all great. Maybe it’s just horses for courses. I hear at BA, you’re just a number, and when your seniority comes up, you move on/up to the fleet/seat you want, but get the dregs of roster/trips/destinations etc. in the meantime. Personally, I just want to earn as much as possible, for as little work as possible, and be in my own bed (mostly) every night. At Jet2 this is very possible, to come in, do the best job, have a fun day out, go home and relax and forget about work. That’s personal choice, and I’ve done my time in other roles/airlines. Whilst not perfect, I’m very happy at Jet2.

I think some people, who should know better, are struggling with the definition of humility.

Indeed. I was trying to offer a bit of advice to the poster who was asking for the DFOs number. Jet2 isn’t an airline that entertains big fish who stand out. The rules apply to everybody who interviews, and if this was a barrier to good guys joining we’d almost certainly be changing it. As it stands, them’s the rules…

Just hilarious to imagine the look on the DFO's face during a meeting with the CAA or other authority.

"Sorry all, I have to take this call, it's a candidate pilot, who has suggestions.' and: "Where is my notebook, I have to write this down...Quiet everyone, please!"

I've worked for 4 airlines in the UK, none have ever started the vetting process for the airside pass until I've signed a contract.

It's common sense to be honest. Why would any airline go to the trouble of vetting anybody who hasn't signed a contract of employment?
