Wright Aviation B722 and C208 Job -> Air Linkers

Hi everyone,

Like most unemployed pilots, I have applied to those two ads:
B 727-200 First Officer and Flight Engineer for Sri Lanka opeartion-Latest Pilot Jobs-Latest Pilot Jobs
C 208 First Officer at Burundi and Indonesia operation-Latest Pilot Jobs-Latest Pilot Jobs

The first one for a B722 FO position in Sri Lanka, the other for a 208 position in Burundi.

A quick google search for Wright Aviation showed little results and a website which did not really make sense, mixing training, job offers, etc...

Anyway early in the morning I received this email:

Dear Capt. xxx,

First of all we would like to thank you for sending us your CV and showing interest to work with us.

Currently we are in a process of hiring first officer and flight engineer (pilot with basic CPL and IR) of B 727-200 aircraft for our operation at Sri Lanka.

Interested trainee f/o will have to pay,

USD 55,000/ towards B 727-200 type rating and other expenses.

Interested flight engineer will have to pay

USD 48,000/ towards type rating and other expenses.

Trainee pilot will have to sign renewable employment and type rating contract to join us. USD 20,000/ to be paid at the time of signing the contract balance amount to be paid during training period. Monthly stipend/remuneration of US $ 1500 of B 727-200 f/o and US $ 1000/ of B 727-200 flight engineer will be offered during transition period (first year). Employment contract will be renewed after every consecutive year with mutually agreed terms and conditions with marketable pay package. Free accommodation, food, transportation, uniform, laundry, air tickets, medical, insurance, license conversion (if needed) etc. will be covered by the company.

There is possibility of B 727-200 flight engineer will be promoted to f/o position after completion of 1500 flying hours.

May please reach us at +xxx or via e-mail for any further information.

Best Regards,
Capt. xxx,
Head of Flight Crew Recruiter with Wright Aviation and Air Linkers LLC.

I have removed my name and their phone number, and found many interesting posts on pprune about Air Linkers.

Now this is quite a scam, asking for that much money for a 722 rating, but I wanted to start a thread in case people get offered something on the C208...
And if that offer were to be a bit more reasonable, they might accept it (I know I may have), without knowing the other side of the operation.

But maybe I am wrong and Air Linkers is providing some sort of brand new service, completely different from what has been said on pprune, in which case please feel free to share your experience with them.

Now I'm back to the job board....

Unless Daan and Lanef are wildly inaccurate typists, please be aware that the English used in the communications quoted above is not standard, and for those of us who have some experience of receiving scam emails (in a variety of situations), the errors I see scream SCAM very loudly. Caveat emptor.

You might also like to send these communications for information to www.scamwarners.com so that other people can be made aware that things are not always what they seem.

Absolument!

And as I said, a quick google search about Air Linkers (which does not appear on the ad, but in the email...) will definitely highlight the fact that it's a big scam.
Also, simply googling the content of the email, any part of it actually, will show that they simply copy-pasted it from their previous endeavours.

That is, if $55000 for a 727 rating, or even better $65000 () for an A320 rating has not already given everyone a clue.

I'm only wondering if there is any point emailing back with a polite, yet slightly strong-worded answer...

Airliners is a scam running for about 3 years now. The address provided at one point was a vacant site in Mumbai.

A guy on Pprune recently said he went to see them in person to check out the operation but at the last minute Airlinkers declined a meeting.

scam!!!!

Scam or not?

I received the same email as DaandeRuijter showed. I was interested in the airbus program and wanted to sign. They said that a payment of 25000 dollars should be made upon signing the contract and i can sign it either from my country or at one of their offices in different countries....i chose to meet them in person to talk a little first and see the company and sign in in the company caus i want to see that the company really exists! After that they stopped replying, so i dont know what happened....and the number they have in the email is always off when i call.
I dont know if i can trust them or not but for sure i wont take a risk, so if anyone has dealt before with this company please advice.

Alfred, a demand for such a substantial payment upfront with no guarantee of (in this case) employment cannot be anything but a scam.

If such an 'offer' leads to even one person handing over their money, the perpetrators of the scam will have realised their objective and a generous tax-free cash gift. Don't let your dreams lead you to emptying your pocket.

Do you guys even read the other posts? This is a scam. You will lose your money. You will not have a job! Can it possibly be more clear than this?

You are in need of a psych only for considering the idea of paying. Next you need to have brain surgery for paying for a 727 type or a Caravan rating that amount. You simply deserve to be scanned, idiots.

Hi naughty pilot ,

I received the same email and was wondering, did you get in touch with them after that email ? What response did you get? Also they say they are in Bangalore and so am I. Was thinking of paying them a visit to check it out. So far Iv been reading a lot about how they are a scam but none of someone who have been scammed. Don't get me wrong I too am under the impression that this could be a scam but a little more detailed investigation into the company could shed more light. Does anyone here know somebody that has been scammed by Wright aviation?
