IPA Union to be welcomed into TUC
From a VERY reliable TUC source I've heard the Independent Pilots Association
Welcome to the IPA are very soon to gain TUC recognition.
Thank God, at long last a true competitor for BALPA. Watch this space!!

Hardly a thumbs up, ok if you work for VA, but what % of the UK pilot workforce can currently join this new & wonderful pilot union? 1.5% ? Based on that, I'd say "other" unions (PPU) are actually not available.

The reason the PPU was started was because of expressed dissatisfaction, amongst pilots, with the alternatives - regardless whether they're members of the TUC or not.
Yep, the PPU's just started (currently in Virgin for the reasons explained on the PPU website FAQs) so, look at the website and you'll see that that's far from its only objective.

Hmmmm
Well the IPA have been good for individuals who need representation and TUC membership may help them get a bit more clout with recognition battles. However, whilst their fees are competitive for airline captains the flat rate of £25/mth is steep for young members and instructors.

Absolutely nothing to do with BA pilots. More to do with letting non BA pilots know there will be another TUC member union very soon. Competition is good for all - something to loose deeceerhree???

Perhaps WWW is wondering whether deeceethree has a horse tied up somewhere that needs to be "loosed" so that it may get some exercise?

When, at the time, the IPA Chairman allowed Dan Air to hijack the facilities and operate as a Dan Air Pilots Placement Service, I left. Have they moved on a bit since then ? Circa 1992. I agree though, with TUC membership, some meanigful muscle will be built up.

You just can't let go, can you? Sidelined, and now without any real direction, you continue your juvenile 'mission' in the hope of finding some salvation somewhere.

All these new unions seem a bit daft. Are we the Judean People's Front, or the People's Front of Judea?
Still, economists are always banging on that choice is good for consumers. Whether that works for trade unions, I guess we'll see

Just a quick word for the IPA.
There are folk out there who have needed legal help, and BALPA have not given a toss.
This includes the worst type of abuse of flight safety by UK airlines, that has the potential to affect us all.
This may not be typical, but the IPA have stepped up to the mark when, as I say, BALPA stand and watch.
I'm a member of both, and am aware of the limitations. I have been let down by the main union a number of times, and can only speak highly of the IPA.
If BALPA were truly effective, why the need for any breakaway union??

Absolutely Wirby. Don't know when to crack it open though. When I get my massive amount of back dated holiday pay, when IPA gets TUC affiliation or when I get my ECHR Payment next year. You never know, there maybe a bigger celebration coming up - bigger than all three mentioned.
Rest assured Wirby, you'll be first on the champagne party guest list - as long as you promise to dress accordingly!

Wonker,
A little birdy tells me that you might need to amend your BALPA cut and paste application for Holiday Pay.
You forgot to take out the application for the correct portion of Flying Pay that you never recieved.
Perhaps you should read through plagarised documents next time.
