The reason the PPU was started was because of expressed dissatisfaction, amongst pilots, with the alternatives - regardless whether they're members of the TUC or not.

Yep, the PPU's just started (currently in Virgin for the reasons explained on the PPU website FAQs) so, look at the website and you'll see that that's far from its only objective.
