Syntax Error

I think you need to get you're facts right Sir!

At the moment we are not on a 5/3 roster. Yes there is talk, but this is for SUMMER only.

The reason for this is so the can keep recruitment to a minimum, therefore we will be less likely to take unpaid leave during the winter.

I can fully assure you, at the moment and for the past two years I have had a fully commutable contact with Wizz air and A very nice roster.

Obviously like in every airline you have the "Moaners" who you cannot please and have to complain about absolutely everything, but such is life.

Didn't we go on a 5/3 roster last year for the summer season, then after summer back to our normal rosters?

I agree alot of people are unhappy, but what can we do about this? Jump ship? where to?

The only point that I was trying to make is that this 5/3 roster is not a permanent thing. There are plenty of worse outfits out there with alot worse rosters.

wow syntax....you're a happy soul aren't you?! Can't wait to have you on my right...

i've been on 6/4 for the last 2 years and whilst it doesn't always work out in terms of commuting to home & base due to the scheduling of flights, it's normally not a problem. I've been lucky enough to have been in 5 different bases over the last 12 months (my request) and each have their own pro's and con's, but none of them have I had 5/3 nor spoke to anyone on 5/3. out of interest what bases are on 5/3 syntax?

There's no such thing as perfect, but if you're nice to the planners then it can pay dividends :-)

Re the 5/3 roster, I suspect the reason for this is due to the new Flight Time regulations that will come into force late this year. Then, operators won't be allowed to schedule 6 days of earlies / lates. Roster changes are also happening at RYR (someone can correct me on this) and EZY are promoting flexi roster too, even with the new conrtact. Wizz make no guarantees about the option to commute and of course they want local pilots for all the obvious reasons. Complaining about commuting isn't likely to be any concern for the mgmt when they've got CV's flooding in through the door.

From what I've heard, recruitment has stopped for the summer and there is enough pilots going through the training dept to fill the gaps where needed. It will reopen again in October. The biggest problem for crewing has been that governments (outside EU, ie Ukraine, Macedonia) want local pilots or at least the pilots on local contracts so that has meant a lot of base changing / scheduling changes. Plus, of course, there was some sudden resignations but I was reliably informed that last year a lot less pilots left than they expected.

You should listen to A320baby, if you don't like it, jump ship.

Staying on the 6/4 roster. Not changing, pretty much confirmed.

Syntax

All of your posts are so negative about your job so why don't you just pack your bags and move elsewhere?? Life isn't a dress rehearsal so why waste your time at a place where you are not happy?

By the way, and I'm no expert, but if you are based at Gdansk, why do you expect to rent a flat in Sopot which is a very expensive area? There are plenty of places nearer the airport that are much cheaper and save the commute.

Syntax,

I think you're taking us off topic here. You've made some good points about the terms and conditions within Wizz Air.

However, just because there are bigoted, racist people in villages, towns and cities in Poland it doesn't follow that this is an isolated problem of theirs.

I've seen and heard the most vile, bigoted, sexist, hateful and racist comments used in every country I've visited or lived in.

When I was a Wizz captain, I used to fly with black, brown, white and yellow co-pilots. Not one of them had ever had an issue with their colour of skin whilst in Poland.

As for the midi car driver in Gdansk being a "neo nazi"? Is this the same guy that got married a week ago? If so, several of my friends were at his wedding. All expats and one of Indian origin. A neo nazi wedding? Not quite. Of course, it may not be him you're talking about?

And you know what? I heard a terrible thing the other day. A white soldier was murdered in broad daylight by 2 black men. This was in London.

It can happen you know.

People are strange everywhere. Not just in little villages near Wizz Air bases.

Before I start let me say thanks to „Narrow Runway” and a „GA Button” for those words.
Mr. Syntax Error : There’s only one thing that could abuse me more, then calling me a Neo-Nazi – it’s saying that I drive Dacia… I wonder how could anyone think like this and deduce my talking as a Nazist speech.
If you, with all respect, sir, do not know what am I talking about, then your theory about my political attitude is far away from true…
The words you wrote actually make me scared of a person able to think like that.
As mentioned above about my wedding – I had a great time with English Blokes !
In conclusion: gentleman, there’s must be some “syntax error” in someone’s brain.

Thank you!

Expats

Syntax,

I wonder if the new rule is really about just trying to slowly ease out those expats who won't give up being an expat?

Commuting was always a nightmare in Wizz.

GA Button and I both did it. That was over 4 years ago to start with.

We also both did the pilot management "thing" - he more successfully than I could, as my temper (short as it is) couldn't suffer another **** sandwich from the erstwhile DFO.

Nothing will change. I suggest you leave. GA Button and I both have....

@narrow runway

Can you tell me in what way commuting is/was a nightmare?

I heard that there was a 6/1/6/7 schedule possible. Me thinks that is good enough for commuting.

Or do i overlook something?

I can't seem to understand why people slate the company, You knew the score before you signed up!!!

If its that bad leave, Go to Easy/Aer lingus!

The last thing our company needs is employees who continue to moan and groan !

Woody,

As Syntax says, that means being away for a full 2 weeks.

Not for me thanks.

I did the 6/4 thing and it was a nightmare. I made it work, but it was tough even from a base with lots of connections.

I've said it before. Wizz is good if you can achieve your goals. If you can't you'd better move on.

Syntax: I'd slightly question the validity of staying an FO. I have never been offered as much work since I became a captain. Remember, you can go back to the RHS any time. The move to the left is not so easy. Command is EVERYTHING in my opinion.

Good luck all.
