Update, going well...just under 30 million saved first year. Extra 8 aircraft this year coming, A321's with sharklets on way. Put out invite for bid of Boeing, airbus and bombardier, around 14 a/c to add to fleet. This would take us upto 50ish and rumour is we could even go upto 70. LH nothing changed, we have the 330's for 5 years but it was reiterated that to have LH worth its salt we need minimum of 6 a/c. 83 % I think scheduled now ....obviously future large recruitment depends upon the aircraft acquisitions.

What chance does Bombardier really have with Monarch for the C-Series? Clearly this would be Airbus's deal to lose given that Monarch already operates mostly Airbus aircraft - right?
Even though the C-Series would probably be a great aircraft to fly (new avionics with the ProLine Fusion and a clean-sheet designed aircraft), I see Bombardier as a negotiating tool in many of these Boeing/Airbus bidding wars... Take a look at this flight deck:

In addition to the 170-200 seating we are also looking at 150, I suppose it will depend on a whole host of things, new bases and routes, deals etc....we will know by March/April so not pie in the sky me thinks....

FO Sector / Duty pay take home?
Hi,
Is anyone at Mon able to confirm what the Flying / Duty pay actually equates to please in terms of take home pay per month as an FO on an average month appreciate it'll be more May-Oct etc....
Salary of £48,488 - approx £2,900??
Flight pay £6.74 p/h
Duty Hour £3.01
Voyage hour £3.28
Thanks did a quick search but couldn't find what i needed as usual!!

It depends on the fleet, base and season.
On the FBW which almost all new recruits are taken on for, you can expect to be busy in the summer 80-90 hours. Less so in the Winter plan on 40-60 hours.
Any voyage on these fleets is likely to be short term voyage to another UK base. There will be some, but it shouldn't figure too strongly in your fiscal planning.
Duty pay is taxed at your highest marginal rate on a fixed proportion of the amount received. Flying pay is fully taxed at your highest marginal rate. Salary is taxed in accordance with your own personal circumstances at the published rates.
Non FBW fleets (757/A300) can generally expect much lower hour utilizations in both Summer and Winter. There may be greater opportunities for voyage pay, but this is more than offset by the lower proportion of duty pay and flight pay resulting from the lower annual utilization.
Everybodies take home is going to be different, depending on their own circumstances, but these generalizations together with your own figures should help you do the math.

Hi ask the tax man app will give you your net take home pay after tax, NI & pension contributions. £6.74/hr is taxed at 40%, £3.01 + £3.28 (voyage rate ie away from base) both take home approx .85p in the pound ie 15% is tax the rest is yours. The busy summer months you will do 85hrs + per month so you do the Maths 85x £6.74 less 40%, that is paid from push back to on chocks, the FDP is paid from check in to 1/2 an hour after chocks (£3.01 hr less your 15% tax ). Overtime (lots of it in the last few years) work on £300 take home after tax which includes both your flying pay (6.74) & your FDP(3.01) and you won't be far wrong, payments can range from 1-8 per month if you want it (we are only supposed to do two though : scheduling agreement but needs must mainly in summer ) so expect anything from (if your a first year F/O) £3300 upto £5000 + per month, there really is no exact figure to quote !!

Currently courses are running from last years recruitment, until April.
Think further is planned, but probably waiting for fleet announcements first.
This year Monarch have been more than fair. They could have filled the positions several times over with just Easyjet ready rated or CTC, but then took an equal balance of both of those and another third experienced unrated, a mix of turboprop, RAF and ex Baby crews.
All permanent full time contracts.
And not a single penny was charged for the rating given!!!!!
There's not many out there that can compare to this.
Some sound bitter that they didn't get through. I suggest that a company offering these deals to hundreds of pilots should get much credit.
Maybe the bitterness should be focused to the other airlines????

Serenity - thank you very much. I've also heard rumours that a bit of recruitment is possible later on this year - but equally, you never really know if you listen to rumours as to where it's all going to end up. I really just hope that the mix of people taken on continues should this be the case...
However...
Bearing in mind the news from a certain UK airline this morning, I think the list of experienced turboprop pilots looking for new jobs just got a bit longer.
