This coming from a seniority based not merit based employer? That's rich! I'm with shiny ten.

Chris Griffin,
Isnt that being a tad naive and simplistic. Having been in the previous hold pool myself and awaiting an interview, I would love to spend every hour of every day checking the website for an interview slot. Alas, my current employer insists that I work the roster. It would simply be polite to be emailed that slots are being made available from a particular date....perhaps.
Shiny, it is frustrating but hold on in there. It's going to be a long ride to the gate.

"Isnt that being a tad naive and simplistic."

Not really - just realistic.

Why should you expect people who have better things to do to wipe your backsides merely because you don't feel you have the time to check the website for available dates? Hundreds if not thousands of people have managed it with similar work commitments, if you believe yourself to be a special case - raise it with LC.

Black and Brown - I have no interest in exchanges with you - I merely offer the observation that the seniority based system did not bother you until your application was rejected. I suggest you be positive and enjoy your current job as this obsession appears unhealthy.

Rgds

Who knows FLR? I would imagine BA recruitment will be updating holdpoolers soon (once every two months I believe was suggested). It appears the policy of streaming to your current fleet still exists. So good news if you fly the 757/767 and crap news if you are on the 737, it appears. I don't know where that puts non-rated bods?

Shiny Ten

Maybe you should raise the issue, especially as many of the previous holdpool occupants are either on line now or are awaiting a course. Maybe something has slipped the aformentioned head of recruitments understanding? If you have had emails suggesting some sort of guarantee, per say, then act! Because presently all you are doing is whinging on a public internet site with the opinion that life's a bitch! I think BA are looking for more proactive people, so phoning them explaining your predicament would have been my first port of call - that is if you feel you have something in your possession that backs up your query? Bare in mind, these people also read pprune. So you've just blown your identity to them. All seems a bit silly to me really. I wish you luck nonetheless.

streaming ?

At the last point of contact, streaming to type was still on going. That said a friend of mine who did his sim fairly recently, was told to "expect an airbus course if passed". He is rated on a 767. Maybe the plan is changing??

"That one sentence demonstrates perfectly why you dont know what you`re talking about. Those who were in the Hold pool before and received emails from LC will know what I mean."

The e mail I also got stating a degree of preferential treatment for previous holdpoolers?

I cracked on and got myself sorted using initiative and standard internetting techniques rather than wait for someone to put the world in my lap.

Agree with Callsign Kilo - would appear you have been waiting a while for some reason.

Trying to garner support for your inaction and subsequent persecution complex doesn't wash. Anyhow, I will now refrain from stoking the cinders and wish you luck in your endeavours (if you manage to pull your finger out).

Best wishes

Day 1 doubt

Sorry guys to talk about this again but latest post confused me a little.
I am waiting like many others an invitation for day 1 and in October I received an email telling me that they would get in touch as soon as they have slots available.
Should I wait for their email or do I have to log in daily on BA website and check for slots?
Just to clarify I asked the same thing here months ago and someone said I have to wait for the email before be authorized to visualize the slots on my BA log page.
Please any advice?
Thanks

nrn, when i logged onto summary page there was an extra option of book interview when slots were available, was only up for about 4 days then slots gone, option disappeared again.

Id suggest log on at breakfast, mid day, evening each day. I didnt get the email to my email account i just spotted the option to book by logggin in, although if i look in the emails sent via the summary page it shows they sent me one ?

Think i'll just wait for email.

I hardly think obsessing over the website and logging in 3 times a day is healthy for you.

I also don't think not doing the above mentioned will class you as "not being commited, or proactive" enough.

Flyer 19832007 - understand your point but from experience on a few occasions - if you wait for the e mail it generally arrives after or at best contemporaneously when dates are promulgated, hence no dates left when you log in.

If you're interested and cogniscant of the seniority issue, I don't believe there's any way round putting the effort in to getting the first available date, work commitments notwithstanding.

Best of British to you

After a Recent visit to Cranebank, here's some of the questions which cropped up. Good luck to those of you with interviews around the corner.

What made you want to become a pilot?
Why do YOU want to join BA?
Why do you think BA should hire you ?
What are the Threats currently facing BA?
Tell me what you know of the impending BMI Acquisition?
Give me some examples of good customer service that YOU have delivered?
What do you think of SOP's? Are they good or Bad?
Define Leadership?
What qualities make a Leader?
What new technologies have BA implemented?
Give me an example of a tough decision you had to make.
Tell me a time when you had to deliver sensitive news to someone?
Give me an example of a time you had to deal with change in the workplace.

I wouldn't throw your toys around too much, there are only so many ways they can ask the same questions. The aim is to get a feel for the type of person you are and whether you match their model.

Even if their 'question bank' is modified, as long as you have some examples of situations where your steely-eyed heroism saved the day, that you can mould to the specifics of the question and verbalise without stumbling and stuttering, you'll be fine.

It was meant as a bit of a tongue in cheek remark. I have no doubt they are fully aware of what info gets posted here. I was more of a sissy than a hero, but still got in, albeit by a back door. Take overs. More of which perhaps coming soon, if approved by the regulator.
