hft,

without getting rude: do you know what unlikely means? If you've got an email invite then great. Thank you for highlighting my point (ie unlikely is not the same as never)! Sarcasm is not great for interviews - just remember that...

howflytrg, Can you please confirm you have been invited for interview? Is this as DEP or DEC? And lastly, do you happen to know someone in the company or had you just applied and got called in? Cheers!

Good luck!

Bug, CC,

I'd say we're all in agreement on many things. The Dash certainly makes up the bulk of the fleet (and the work!). I still wonder how many Dash guys have irons in the fire job wise (quite a few of the ones I know).

We can all be certain of interesting times to come at least!

Bug Speed,

The company has only recruited 18 MPL students, from the only 2 FTOs which are approved to offer it, and 6 of that number are only just in initial training now. That hardly accounts for the "majority" of new FOs as you so firmly declare. In the last 18 months, recruitment has quite definitely involved the greater proportion of fATPL holders, with those new pilots coming from 3 schools. The first MPL course only joined the company at this time last year.

As for the assertion that company recruitment policy is MPL courses, I suggest you pop along and have a chat with the DFO - clearly he has been misinformed and doesn't know half as much as you. His publicly stated intention is to continue to recruit a mixture of traditional fATPL pilots and MPL pilots, but what would he know?

unless the industry goes mad and half the workforce leaves
Here's hoping.

Nothing is impossible. Whilst unlikely, if say 30 skippers left for other pastures over the next 2 months. And with Jet 2, Flydubai amongst others that could happen, do you really think Flybe wouldn't employ from their pool of DECs?
No, plenty of SFOs waiting.

EDI and IOM are short.
EDI getting half a dozen new captains in the new year.
IOM being crewed by excess from other bases.

I entered my details with Flybe's recruitment system a few years ago and re-entered when they wiped their recruitment system. Never heard anything from them.

Otto,

18 MPL pilots in the last 12 months is the majority of the recruitment. In addition there has been one course of about 10 fATPL. Those fATPL's were, incidentally, legacy hold pool swimmers finally offered a job (some had been CC for about a year).

I do speak to CP, DFO and HoCT on a pretty regular basis as it happens alongside our chief recuiter. They were all saying the same thing as was mentioned at our trainers meeting 2 weeks ago. Namely, MPL will be the prime recruitment drive.

"His publicly stated intention is to continue to recruit a mixture of traditional fATPL pilots and MPL pilots" - refer to last sentence on previous paragraph.

I thank you for backing up what I've been saying.

BS

There will be time to train the SFOs if Captains leave, they'll just work the rest of us harder in the mean time, there may be Sim slot issues though!
