StopStart, just a small correction:

Sector pay is £16.80/sector minimum for short sectors. About £22 for longer ones and more for the longer longer ones (which I don't do so don't know exactly) Plus about £5/sector on top of that for more than two sectors.

Can anyone give me some more details on a typical roster? Duty hours/sectors per month? Have been offered 70%, and whilst im 99% sure its a non starter id like to run the figures anyway!

MrHorgy, before you write the 70% deal off consider that, so far, pretty much everybody who was offered 70% to join has been upgraded to 100% at the end of their first summer with the company. Similarly, people usually get to their base of choice after the same period. The rumour mill tells us that the company still has significant expansion planned and consequently as an experienced FO, you could expect a command pretty quickly, subject to training results.

Expect between 500 to 700 hours per year on the 737 fleet, depending on base. Things only really seem to kick off in late May/early June and goes quiet come the end of October.

Six on, two off is usual in summer, winter can be absolutely anything - I've even had three off, one on, three off!

Artie is correct. Recruitment generally involves group exercise, psyco tests (not sure about the type rated for this one) and the usual 2 to 1 interview about aspirations, experiences, base preference etc.

If you do not get the base you want, it's pretty much guaranteed that you will after 12 months.

It is a nice place to work and things have improved over the past few years or so. 70% offered 100% at the end of summer etc, I guess it all depends on expansion. As Artie says the rumour mill is expansion. I guess we will all have to see.

Thanks Chaps.

Can anyone show me a summer roster? Just so I can get an idea on route patterns and work times. How many DUTY hours do you think you do a month? Do they ever ask you to work from another base?

I'm lucky the contract offered was for the base of my choice already, however I reckon 70% will work out at clearing around £2,300 after tax, which is roughly HALF what I clear at the moment at Ryanair

RE: Selection process - Jinkster has it on the head. COMPASS testing for half the day, a group exercise and an interview with 2 bods, one HR normally and the other operational. Nice and relaxed, make sure you read up on Jet2 and have a few interesting storied from the line up your sleeve and you'll be fine.

Mr Horgy, you are correct in your calculations....however it is very likely that after a year you will be 100%, if you are experienced and do ok then within a year you will be SFO (5k pay rise), and if you have command hours then very quickly you will get command. Also bare in mine that your uniform is paid for, car park pass, holiday pay, pension scheme, loss of license scheme, personal insurance, airside passes paid for, if away from base your hotel is paid for AND you get 24 hr allowances, transport to other bases if working away from base paid for and rostered in company time etc etc. Sick pay at full salary for the first 3 months then next three months half pay (after that the loss of license pay kicks in ). None of which i believe is covered with Ryanair? Do take all that into account when making up your mind.

Any ideas on the chances for a Summer 2013 contract being extended or made permanent? I know this has happened in previous years, but there seems to be a lot more talk of 70% contracts being offered this time around.

If it does get extended are you at a disadvantage wrt promotion etc, if you joined via the agency?

Any personal experiences of the Jet2/Zenon arrangement are much appreciated (also via PM maybe)

TVM BE, will contact them.

Any ideas on numbers?

Been out of flying for a few years but have 1500+ hrs pic, largely as captain and around 3,500hrs in total. Trouble is i'm ex-mil (4 jet and 4 prop) and have no type rating but would pay for my own if it would open the door? Would appreciate an honest appraisal!!

Wild blue wander

Ex mil is good for Jet2.com. Lots of ex mil pilots.

I am sure you will find one of your ex-colleagues works for Jet2.com
