One thing I've learned in my relatively short time in aviation is when management/galley FM tell you new aircraft are on the way, consign it as "hanger talk" until you are on that aircraft and you hear "V1".

The 767's are cancelled as of a couple of days ago
Is this fact?
It did seem bad planning to have just taken on 75/76 rated guys to operate when it is not even in the fleet yet.
What happens to them now and does this mean Jet2 will be over crewed on the 757?

If there's one thing to be said about Jet2 is that you can always expect the unexpected from them!
Last summer was very tight so probably there's room for everyone. And from what I've been told is that all the new joiners are really nice guys. I hope they enjoy their time at Jet2span.

Uncle Wiggily – don’t forget James Westfall and Dr Kenneth Noiswater.
If the ladies play their cards right they might get to meet the whole gang!

Thanks fellas
Yeah, Jet2 have some good guys joining...
Heard about the (non) B767. Maybe next year eh??

After years of short haul, I'm quite used to the Level2 variations to Cyprus & Egypt etc. Looks like I'll have to stock up on ASDA ready meals for one again!!
But, It's a great company. Loads of fun to work for, and I'll be flying from my home city. (Full time would be nice though!!) and I hope the rumours of Pegasus FMCs come true.

See you all on line soon.

Regards

LJ

Perhaps the more likely interpretation is that the negotiations to acquire B763s have broken down. Worldwide there are only 7 B763(ER)s up for grabs, that are about 15 years old and only four of these are likely to have a seat configuration that may be attractive to an LCC such as JET2. Doubtless the conditions/price offer to JET2 was unsatisfactory, so they walked away but doubt that the future long haul plans have been shelved for the forseeable future.

One other possible source of B763(ER)s might be from Thomson, who recently furloughed 137 pilots and that equates to a large number of planes sitting on the ground. So far they have only reduced their fleet by 1 x A321. Their fleet includes 13 B763(ER)s.

I imagine a few more 76's will hit the market once the dreamliners start arriving towards the back end of this year.

Has the Varig 767 really fallen through?? Crikey, it spent less time "being painted in the hangar" than the Gulf Air 767s!

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if this latest info wasn't put out by PM himself
But it was the board that decided so they must not like the idea at the moment.

Wrong

It means the remaining pilots will be working more often.
