The crash is not due to an engine failure, but the history of engine incidents, as well as the personal experience of the pilot with this aircraft could have had an influence on the reactions of the crew.

The pilot furthermore stated he did not take a breakfast that morning. This could possibly influence the reaction rate of a person owing to a lowered blood glucose level
It may seem trivial, especially to the managers, im glad the regulation authorities take some notice.
I have worked for a company that does not do crew food, you start early for 8+ hours without anything!!!!

Standards

Personaly I will not get out of bed for anything less that reconstituted egg (Scrambled), waffer thin water enhanced bacon, funny looking shrivled fungi with a liberal covering of salty fat. All washed down with a well stewed cup of tea, the best bit.

In the colonies, they've been known to take it with coffee instead. It shakes us to our roots, but if that's what they want, we shouldn't stand in their way. But did they have to throw all that PGTips into Boston Harbour? Why? They've never been the same since.

During my career I've worked for several airlines, which included two Low Cost Carriers - one in the USA and one in Asia. I'm not talking about the cheap airlines (Valuejet, Vanguard, etc), where some folks actually paid the company to fly, but the new age LCC's

Both were good experiences with top-notch management, and aside from the food (lack thereof), they were good quality operations.

With those two examples, I found that the salaries for Captains was comparable with most any other airline operating similar equipment. For F/O's however, the salaries was typically less.

For a freshly Type-Rated pilot, the LCC's may offer an opportunity to gain some experience which would open an otherwise closed door at a major or with a contractor.

Personally, I enjoyed knowing that I'd be home each night; not living out of a suit case for days on end. Some may see this as a positive, some may not.

Best Regards
