Staff Travel Privileges

I was wondering if anyone within the Airlines would be able to shed some light on the subject of Staff Travel Privileges within their own airlines.

We are in the process of negotiating more advantageous terms and conditions and would like to know what benefits other flight crew receive when flying with their own carrier.

Things specifically of interest are upgradeable fares, priority when travelling with partners whilst on duty and off, access to lounges and what time frame from DOJ these benefits all kick in.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Benefit

We travel once a month deadhead to and from a place we want Cpt First Class, F/O´s C-Class. Additionally we have 4 free Tickets per year, confirmed EY, if space is available we can get upgrade to C-Class. These are for Spouse and Children as well. Plus 6 Z-Fare tickets per year on our own Airline. For other Airlines we can get Z-Fare as per agreement between the Airlines interline agreement. In fact we can get more tickets as chances to travel as we have to work afew days as well and earn the bucks to spend them on journey´s. Last few years I did not use any of my free tickets at all. Ít is good to know to have them if I would need one. These benefits are grantet as soon as you complete your training.

Fly safe and land happy

EY:

EY ID tickets enjoyable 3 months after DOJ , 6 months for ZED.

-1 Annual leave ticket ID00, confirmed in Y class, upgradeable to F for Capt., J for F/O (applicable to spouse + children, to make it short...) on EY network
-unlimited ID50 on either class of travel (not upgradeable, same for spouse, children and parents)
-unlimited ID90 on F,J,Y for Capt., J,Y for F/O (not upgradeable, same for spouse, children and parents)
-ZED fares as per interline agreements
-10 "Bonus" tickets/year, could be either ID50 or ID90 in either class for your friends or relatives (no need to travel with them)

Priorities are based on your fare purchase and seniority when applicable.
Upgrades are strictly restricted (duty travel, JID90...) and there are no exceptions.
No access to any lounge whilst on duty or ID travel.

Why should rewarding status be wrong? Isn't that what happens every day in business? Would you consider it correct for a newly joined stewardess to have the same priviledges as a Captain, or and SFO?

From our Asian carrier:

Annually for the pilot and his qualified dependents (spouse, parents, children, unmarried siblings below 21):

Int'l destinations (more than 8hrs flt):
1 ID00
1 ID75
2 ID50

Domestic OR Regional destinations (non-domestic but less than 8hrs flt):
2 ID00
2 ID75
2 ID50

An Int'l ticket can be converted to 2 Regional or 2 Domestic.
The pilot can use his dependent's allocation.

Though the paperwork's a handful, interline as much as you can with most airlines.
Domestic or Regional deadheads are liberal even just on your days off(except to places known to be hiring pilots, hehehe) so the pilot can conserve his staff tickets.

Heavy jet Capts and F/Os & Light Jet Capt (737 & 320) are C/Y.
Light Jet F/Os and Long-haul S/Os are Y.
But if you have had more than 15yrs of service, you fly F.

Of course, if you don't happen to be one of those hated guys, the Purser invariably upgrades you to F anyway.

(W/c you'd normally decline because the cabin crew there are much older compared to the newly-upgraded F/As in C & Y.)

Forgot the non-qualified dependents (married siblings or those above 21):

Except for ID00, everything else apply.

Hope this helps.

The interline, btw, are mostly ID90. Got lots of carriers to choose from.

Must be the age showing, I now tend to miss a lot of stuff .

All tickets are upgradeable if YOU pay the extra cost.

A Capt's priority is quite high, equivalent to a junior VP. Priority extends to qualified dependents. Heavy Jet F/Os have the same privilege. On duty, you are a must-ride.

Btw, ID75 is not bookable (similar to a chance pax).

Your lounge access depends on your ticket. Official business is normally at least C (business class).

All of these could be availed after 2 years of regular employment. You get some limited ones before that. Domestic deadheads though are extended anytime.

On a case to case basis, you can actually get an advance from your expected staff tickets.

Next time you ask for a cup of coffee, why not poll the cabin crew and see how they feel?

I'm sure they will agree with you... what do you think?

Why not ask them if they'd like the same salary as well? Last time I checked we didn't live in a communist society and everyone's not equal brother.

Are you a pilot's union member

If you are a union member, request the info you require either from IFALPA or the union for the country where you wish to set up the agreement. Unions have vast experience in negotiating such agreements.
