Aurigny Air Services
Hello I am type rated on the ATR 42/72 (no hours on type), I have 215 hours in total, frozen ATPL.
I heard this company will receive 2 ATR72-500 this year.
Can you tell me if it is a good company to work for and if they need FO.
THANKS

What is the situation like in Aurigny Air Services? Weren't they supposed to receive more ATR72-500? do they pay well? do they recruit wannabes with a type rating? how many ATRs have they got?
Thank you for your help.

Jackdaw, if you knew anything about Aurigny then you would know that Aurigny do not have any TRTO approval and are unable to train any pilot themselves.
Most of the FOs at Aurigny have come from those that have self funded the ATR rating at Skyblue , as such Aurigny have often taken rated pilots with no time on type. The problem at the moment is Aer Arran have laid off several ATR crews hence there are several experienced crews on the market.

The two new ATRs are replacing the old ones so there will be no expansion, plus you need Guernsey Housing Rights to work in Guernsey, in good times Aurigny have applied for this on behalf of pilots from other areas who are joining the airline, however at the moment they can probably pick any number of guys from a pool who already have these rights. Flogging a dead horse at the moment I'm afraid buddy. Have you tried one of the agency jobs in Asia or Africa? There still seems to be quite a bit of ATR activity out there?

I have no hours on type so there no chance to find a job in those countries. I am not from Guernsey, but I have been told it's possible to have a working permit for a couple of years. I will keep on calling Mr Rice.
Do you know which company might buy the 2 old ATR72s then?? Farnair or Air contractor could be?

As Skiptoit said, the aircraft are replacements not for expansion. If anything I can see a couple of guys getting laid off over the next few months due to the drying up of the charter and ACMI markets at the moment. There are also already 2 guys in the hold pool who were about to start their line training when the economy went bad.
Whilst Aurigny do not have TRTO approval they do have a very close relationship with Skyblue and in recent times plenty of FOs recruited have actually not been type rated- they have been selected by Aurigny first and then sent to Skyblue for their TR course.
