Lounge access for Flight crew
Has anyone tried using, for example, "PriorityPass", as pilot or cabin crew ? This is one of those cards, for 400 Euro pa., gives you access to pretty much all airline lounges.
Not necessarily on duty in uniform etc., but Im more interested to know whether not having a regular pax ticket would cause any problems.
The terms and conditions are a little vauge and say that facilities 'may not be available' to airline staff or even those travelling on rebated tickets.
Any experiences ?

Just make sure that they have a prescence in the terminals you intend to use. I got the card years ago when I was flying around as a pax a reasonable amount but found out to my cost that although they might be at places like LHR they weren't represented in the terminal which I used.

The best deal is to get an AMEX Platinum Charge Card (300£), you get, 2 full unlimited priority memberships, travel insurance for you and family, flight delay compensation and a few more niceties.
Reagarding access to lounge you will need a valid boarding card on your name, no matter if it says stand-by on it.
Some lounges will ask you not to enter wearing your uniform or to change.
I have used the lounges about 40 times this year and think is great value.

Amex advice good.
Now, back to Priority Pass Airlines - cart before the horse. Got the lounges in place before the aircraft. Direct Entry huh ? By ringing the doorbell in front of reception ?
Planning to commute to your interview and new job from the Panhandle ?
Sorry A320drv...you did ask for it!

OK thanks for the replies, apart from the bizarre sideline .. !
Um, so you always have to have a boarding card? Meaning that you can only use the lounge when you are dead heading. Which I guess actually makes sense, as if you are operating, you're not likely to get the time before or after the flight to be in the lounge.
Maybe its a really good idea! 400 Euros is then pretty reasonable for a years worth of comfortable travel eh?

I've never been asked to change out of uniform
It is highly unlikely we will see a priority pass lounge at LHR T5, but you never now , is all up to servisair...
Best lounges tried so far, Athens OA Lounge, Singapore , Swiss Lounges at ZRH .

I have Priority Pass (from the Black Mastercard) and so far have only used it at Luton and Lisbon. It isn't the cheap pass.
I have been in civvies, yet to try it in uniform.

Have used it and found it very good at a couple of airports but completely useless at others (those where the one lounge is about 45 minutes away, in some distant terminal that no-one uses). You also need to keep checking the internet for updates because the lounges seem to close down quite regularly, or be moved and can be inconvenient.
But on the other hand, I used the one at Quito and it was great - free everything.

how do PP make money
perhaps there is a charge back towards the airline that is "using" their facility.
There are several levels of PP membership, the lowest being a turn up and pay, to full unlimited access.
The fact that Srvisair or other has no loungein T5 is perhaps that it is a BA terminal.
I have been a member for many years, and it made EasiJet almost a human carrier.
As to getting in with out a boarding pass, never tried it.

Got my PP for free with a Platinum Mastercard. Use it in average once a month mainly in european airports - always in uniform, never carrying a boarding card. Works fine. The quality of the lounges varies though. Some lounges are really nice, others (for instance STN) are a bit disappointing.
Ask your bank for your best option. I pay 300 € p.a. for the business MC platinum with travel insurance, PP, PT. Good value for money (already covered a totally thrashed rental car).
