Any chance on Ryanair for me? Ever?

Maybe someone could give some insights and perspectives on this subject for me… I’ve just came out from the Ryanair website and found out that I don’t meet any of their requirements (except the fluent English part) to apply for a F/O position.
Here they are:
  • 737 rated and 500 on type – I’m an A320 F/O and about 1500 on type and 4000TT.
  • JAA licence – I have a Brazilian ICAO ATPL.
  • Unrestricted right to live and work in the EU – Nop… I don’t have it once I’m Brazilian. By the way, I’m 29 and married if that helps.

I know this may look silly but I want so bad to work on Ryanair and there just got to be a way around all those requirements… I mean, today I work for the major airline in South America, it offers a great perspective in the near future, in a couple of months, hopefully, I should be upgraded to the A330, 777 or 767… then should take around 2 year to get a possible offer for the LHS on the A320… These are basically my expectations, not sure if it will actually happen.

But as I mentioned before I wish to apply for a F/O position on Ryanair, my questions are.
1. Is there in a near future the chance of Ryanair consider non 737 rated pilots on their screening process? If not what should I do, apply for an airline which has 73s on their fleet?
2. How do I get the JAA conversion? Any tips on that?
3. Unrestricted right to live and work in the EU… now that should be a problem.. I don’t see how.

I appreciate any help I can get here.
Thanks a lot!

This one is much closer to reality:

Unfortunally we live in an unofficial civil war... that's one of the main reasons I want to live somewhere else.

But your post was very funny!!!

We have a lot of ex Varig guys here at Ryanair, it appears they are granted 12 months in which to get a JAA ATPL.

Well, that will depend on the point of view… Ryanair seams a paradise compared to my current airline. Specially the roster yhing, here almost every single flight you get a last minute change, or when you finally think you are going home they send you away to somewhere very faaar, if you are lucky you be able to finally get home on the next day after missing all your personal appointments. 6 days on duty and only one off is the standard, not to talk about the seniority list which does not exist.. and so on. Not to mention the violence on the streets that we have to live with here in Brazil.

Work Permit

Work permit is the main problem you've got to solve buddy!
The JAA conversion can be done easily...

llfb, do you have any Portugese family connection ? e.g. a grandparent etc. Is so, you might be able to get a Portugese Passport, and hence then the right to live and work in the EU !

Thank you all for the help, I just took a look on the easyJet website and that may be the way to go then… but the work permit is really the main problem. As you know here in brazil we are a mixture of everything in the world, on my case I’m probably a little of German, Spanish and Italian. I’ve tried to trace that down so I could apply for either an Italian or Spanish citizenship but I was unable to do so. I think I’m already the 5th generation living in Brazil. Dam… If my ancestor were not dead already I should kill them for leaving Europe and come to Brazil!!!

Anyway, this afternoon I fill up an application on easyJet and maybe try for a sponsorship on the work permit thing.
Thanks a lot for the advices and I’m open for more suggestions.

Try TAP they are currently looking for portuguese speakers under 35 years old for the A320 fleet.

Try Wizzair, they are recruiting A320 experienced pilots.

Try Clickair and Vueling ! (By the way Clickair and Vueling are about to merge and will kick easyJet's ars in Spain, especially in BCN and MAD

Don't make me laugh. You've always had nothing but good things to say about easyJet haven't you!?

what do you mean ?

The best way to kill orange monopoly is to do the following merge:

Vueling + Clickair + Wizzair

Anyone from Ryanair able to answer...

Am an Aussie F/O on 737. Have right of abode (citizenship on the way) to live and work in the UK. Around 4300TT and > 500 737.
Do Ryanair employ the likes of me without a JAA ATPL? (even with the proviso of attaining one within a period of time?

Thanks

Try a broker for Ryanair in Europe. They'll be able to tell you if you have a chance. Ezy is not an option. They won't take somebody without an EU working permit or citizenship.
