Bubair, are you Direct Entry or TRSS?
I am DEP.
Thank for the help FPS.....but I think I'll keep on swimming in order to mantain the DEP status.....what is the point of paying for something you already have?
Are you sure that they give priority to the TRSS?
They never said that during the recruiting days...

I was flying with a F/O the other day who said a colleague from a previous company was swimming for a while as a DEP. When he offered TRSS, a course was made available and he joined.

It might be worth ringing up and seeing just to see if they would offer a course if you were to go TRSS. You don't have to take it and can remain in the pool but it might give you an option.

I know it's frustrating as hell. I joined TRSS with a jet rating whereas people on the course before me joined from turboprops and got DEP. all depends on right place, right time.

Trouble is - is now the right time???

Isn't TRSS only for the uk bases?
If you look at the national contracts there is no payline indicated for the local european contracts??

Anyhow I'll keep waiting for the "right time"
Thanks anyhow.

Around 100 in the hold pool at the moment, mixture of TRSS, DEP, DEC (although the DEC's will be swimming for a very long time). Recruitment days slowed down, no more for Sept, a few pencilled for next month. Emphasis on TRSS for the previously mentioned reasons.

Bubair,

I can confirm what other peeps are saying...TRSS seems the way forward. All my friends are TRSS...most of them from Flybe actually. One even asked the recruitment team and they said TRSS was their main source at moment for the above mentionned reasons. Which i thought was rather honest of them to say...

The three I know who have been given start dates were all on the same recruitment day in May '08. Two were called six weeks later (for an Oct start on Airbus) and the other was about 2months after (for Dec on 737).

As for the TRSS its UK only. Unless your desperate i'd hold out for a DEP position....! You could be waiting a while though.

BUBAIR,

A few months ago I read an internal document regarding future recruitment in EZY. The final recommendation made was to primarily focus on TRSS and DEP only. So unless you're a cadet I wouldn't be too concerned.

Just out of interest from a few of you in the "knorr how"..

What is the mood within the easyjet pilot commmunity about how secure a future with Easy might be for my mates and others that apply. Considering it myself but at the moment i'm just unsure if its a sensible move.

I'm pretty sure Easyjet as a whole is secure from what i read and rumours i hear, but that doesn't mean job cuts are out of the questions further down the line, does it? I know its crystal ball stuff but you guys must have some inclination?!

Thanks in advance... and feel free to PM me your thoughs if your not comfortable sharing you thoughts on here...(only to end up in some sensless arguement with people!!)

Been in EZY 5 years and this is just a personal opinion but I think its about as secure as it gets. We still have airbuses coming at the rate of 2-3 a month for the next however long.

The only places that would be as secure again IMHO are BA and dare I say it Ryanair - albeit with forced unpaid leave. Even Virgin laid off 100 flight deck after September 11th although I believe that they were all offered employment again afterwards.

Ba will find problems with Lehman Brothers / Merill Lynch issues as I understand that these companies were responible for a lot of Transatlantic business class pax.

We have closed a base but those crew have been offered jobs elsewhere on the network. And while the weather in the UK is so ST, the british public will always want to travel to the sun.

Oh for that crystal ball.

Regarding the wait in the holdpool, I started swimming in December 2007. I have a start date for next month, to be based at Milan Malpensa.

There will be a total of 8 DEP's on that course, a mix of FO and SFO.

Hope other swimmers get a call soon.

Thats a bit interesting because from what I have heard eJ has internal waiting lists for bases, incl mxp. Wouldnt the eJ staff go first and employ new pilots for bases where needed??

Or is there something missing in the big picture?

There are several guys starting in october on Italian contract I believe. After that I don't think there's any intake before spring. They will recruit though through winter to boost the hold pool.

Got a message from my mate last night to say his course has been changed to a 737 course starting in October!! Apparently Easy are extending the leases on the 737 as they were offered too good a price to turn down. Not sure how long the leases are for now...anybody any idea?

He also said they were lucky not to be cancelled althogether, so it would seem things are slowing down with regard to courses. Apparently (but don't shoot the messenger), Easy are overcrewed on the Airbus now they are keeping the 737's for longer..I can't see it myself but it came from my mate..which came from recruitment team.

True about the 737's. And we could be short on 737 FO's yes, my Oct roster has 104 hours block on it, so we could well be undercrewed.

Hi!

I have 1500 hours on the 737 and thinking about joining EZY but I am far more intersted by GVA (that would be my first choice), paris or LYS bases.

Do they already ask you for base preferences during the online application process?
If yes, shouldn t I put down bases with 737s to make myself more attrcative? How much time could I expect to move onto a swiss or french base if I were first put on a 73 in england for exemple?
What are the chances from them to retrain a 737 pilot onto the airbus at joining/ after joining (that would get me to my preferred base I suppose)?
What are the taxes in the UK for a no kids/single chap?

Thanks a lot. The place where I live is more important to me than aircraft type, time to command..... as long as the money stays good.
