And allowable FDP is based on the time the standby starts?
FDP starts when you report, but max allowed is the lower of the max duty based on start of standby and max duty based on report time. UNLESS the SBY time is between 2200 and 0800 local time AND you are at home or suitable accommodation AND you're given two hours or less to report. In other words, if they call you at night with just enough time to get to the airport, your max FDP will be determined by your report time, regardless of the time they call you. But if they call you during the day, you'll need to check the standby start time AND report time against the max FDP table, and pick the lower of the two.
Also remember that CAP 371 EFFECTIVELY reduces max FDP by any amount of time above six hours of standby. So in the case of FR using 12 hour standby duties (the CAA max), you could have your max FDP reduced by as much as 5h59 if they called you at the very last minute (literally). CAP 371 does not word it that clearly, but it's basically what it means

FR ........Not restricted to CAA.
My bad! Just out of curiosity, is there a similar rule to CAP 371's "reduced by the amount of standby worked in excess of 6 hours" regarding max FDP after standby with IAA?
And only 60 minutes to get to the Airport.
