Whilst the management have to take it on the chin for many issues, I strongly suggest that my comments are representitive. I am not talking about gsm's loss of ETOPs. Icelandairs performance has been shocking this summer and has compromised globespan financially and in reputation. Do a search on the internet!

I dont want you to recommend me i have a job which suits me.

Despegue, as ever, you have demonstrated a complete inability to understand more than one bit of information at a time without getting the information completely ****ed up in your own anglo-phobic mind.

Icelandair's efforts pertaining to our operations are completely relevant in this matter. They may not be the root cause of problems, but they certainly haven't done anyone any favours.
And judging by the attitude of a couple of their fligthcrew when dealing with a much simpler matter, I am not overly surprised.

Letting pilots go or is it?

Now then now then lets not drop into this again.

My question would be why would a post like this be about the company letting pilots go when a generic job search site and some other not so good ones states that the company have begun interviewing for people over the last few days.

Have I missed something?

Not really. They did let a load of contractors go and are now hiring again.

This was done for financial reasons and has annoyed a fair few people, but it probably was necessary. Hopefully all the "problems" that people have seemed to enjoy jumping on in here are a thing of the past and GSM can get back to being the great little company it once was for both staff and customers.

Could not agree more.

It would be nice for this to happen before all the recent(ish) joiners who have seen the changing times leave before really seeing what the company may be like and could become.

Here we go again, the GSM bashers DO NOT have any current s**t to throw at GSM so they dig up a story nearly 2 months old and "Shock! Horror!" The s**t in question is nothing more than rationalisation when things were looking tough for GSM but now that GSM is slowly emerging out of the other side of the gloom, the doom-mongers start sharpening their scythes. Pathetic, totally pathetic.

I've been here for over a year and I love it, wild horses wouldn't drag me away. A couple of guys who left to try pastures new are now trying to get back into GSM. About a dozen new F/O's joining on the B767 fleet in Dec & Jan. Now, Shi**tirrers and GSM knockers, does THAT sound like a crap company going downhill?

What really worries me is that a colleague PM'd me that his contributions weren't making it onto the forum because he was to pro-GSM and when he complained about this overly biased censorship he was PM'd "..we'll edit how and what we like.Tough."

Now THAT is worrying.

Correct me if I am wrong but I was just saying that I hope people can see what the company was really like(ie coming out of its slightly awkward times) before deciding to look elsewhere. That does not mean that there is a flow of people out the door it also does not mean that everyone is looking elsewhere, but is an observation based on fact and knowledge. I like gsm and believe it could be a very good place again in the near future.
I am not dragging up old threads and am not sharpening anything with a pointy end and as for being pathetic with such an over re-action to a positive hmmm!
I agreed with say again slowly and so if you would like to find a none existent negative in here go ahead

I wondered why I just watched and didint post

Don't worry, folks.

A couple more posts (which revived this discussion after a 6week hiatus) have been deleted. Those posts were made in response to the other thread getting closed, but were more aimed at me, than GSM, or any real discussion.

I'll say openly-
I got a little heated (for which I reservedly apologise) when a couple of simple factual posts by me went missing/were deleted, while some other questionable posts were kept inplace.

To get the discussion back on topic.

Flyglobespan have apparently carried out some interviews for flightcrew. I have no significant details.
Operational changes have been made, which seem to be bearing fruit.
The company appears to be getting through a period of consolidation, and the future looks better for all of us here, and further recruitment.

There is a great deal of satisfaction to be had when you help contribute to a company getting back on its feet. One of the best times that I ever had was working with a group of motivated individulas who were determined to turn things around after a difficult period post a major organisational change. It was hard work and involved a lot of blood, sweat and tantrums; but I learned a hell of a lot from it and formed a number of strong relationships during that time. A good number of my colleagues turned their back on things when the going got tough, and to be honest that was the hardest thing to take; to see others leave and then badmouth the company. Funny thing was, a great deal of these people soon realised that the grass wasn't all that greener where they ended up. Usually never is in my experience.

Maybe parallels can be made with GSM? That would be great to see.

slightly off track.
My professional life, engineering or aviation, has generally been involved with the less established, developing projects and companies.
It appeals to who I am. It won't appeal to others though. The outcome can be very satisfying, but requires a huge amount of determination and a long view. It's along the lines creating or using.
Some people would prefer to work for an established and stabilised operation with a long track record. Many people expect that to be the norm wherever they go.

A question for the Mod's.

Instead of deleting factual, non derogatory, non inflammatory posts then why don't you just delete the thread? At least it won't make you look like a bunch of corrupt control freaks.
