Does anyone know how many people bmi are planning on putting through a TR per month once the system gets flowing again? Am I right in thinking its about 4 per course?

I just wanted to get an idea as to how things are going to pan out if they do decide to re-start recruitment.... Are those courses planned in April still a rumour or can they be substantiated by someone? Its been pretty quiet on the western front for some time...

Keep smiling boys and girls ;-)

...just a little longer

I am afraid I can't answer your questions ref: applications. However, I will re-iterate like 'bmibus' that there is still a trickle of people leaving. I know one Capt that is just finishing [or maybe just has?!] another who has recently handed his notice in and from recollection 5 x FO's [1 x Senior] all who are just working notice or waiting final contract details from the next employer. [FYI. it seems to be BA or the Mid East popular at the moment!]

This post is not meant to be good or bad - just what I hear.....so for those that have been patient for so long ....just a little longer and I wish you all the very best of luck with your career.

Regards to all,

Speedtouch.

So is anyone able to confirm if the online application with BMI that seems to be open at the moment is genuine. I've completed about half of it and have been too busy to complete the rest of it. It would be a shame to continue spending time fillng it out only to get to the end and have ot crash or find out BMI had made a mistake and it shouldn't be open !??

Cheers,
CG.

Unconfirmed but I think its not active. But would have thought it would be taken down if it was... A friend of mine has been told that it was put up in error. Another guy also said that most of the F/D recruitment team have all gone on holiday whilst its quiet so that explains the lack of info but not the website... Perhaps its been put up for testing before bmi announce another round of recruiting. Who knows?

Thanks FL - the your mileage backs up what has been written in the "Interviews" forum. However, not sure I will take the chance but I will be mightly peeved if after spending several hours it goes pear shaped. Then again, getting used to that kind of thing now !!

Just a quick one, the last e-mail received by BB had 33 e-mail addresses. I believe some people have obtained recruitment elsewhere so wondered what the actual figure is?

So is this definitive then? The application form is up in error and it's a complete utter waste of time filling it in? I really feel for you guys in the pool - so many false dawns it must be driving you mental. I really hope they pull their finger out soon and decide what to do and either give us reason to keep plugging away or just jack it in and move on, I'm getting fed up now .
Rant over, sorry!

Guess not. Probably will never have the need to get to know them either.
Although, heres a question. Say you've filled out the application form (I haven't - yet - but will do) and submitted it. You sit around for what feels like eternity and then in...November say, they decide to recruit. Do you have the opportunity to update your application form to show your increase in hours or any other change in circumstances or do you just do a whole new one at the time? Just curious because I can see this being an awful long wait before there is any sort of movement.

Not Good

Bmi announced today (13 February) that is to lease two Boeing 757-200 aircraft from its Heathrow operation as it continues the search for larger machines.

The need for extra capacity has come about since bmi’s takeover of Bmed, which has seen the Heathrow-based airline take on a significantly enhanced network.

Bmi has no current 757s in its fleet and to avoid any maintenance over-complication, will ‘damp lease’ both 757 aircraft from Astraeus as it ramps up services to Tel Aviv and Freetown (Sierra Leone), among others.

The new aircraft will also allow bmi to upgrade its schedule, with new non-stop links to Almaty in Kazakhstan and Freetown from 1 May and increased Israeli frequency that will see six flights per week operate from Heathrow.

Using the new 757s will also enable schedule changes to bmi’s existing A321 operations, with flights from Heathrow to Ekaterinburg and Yerevan now not operating to destinations beyond those cities to improve point to point capacity.

“We strongly believe that in order to continue the development of the mid-haul network, now is the time to upgrade capacity and the aircraft range on certain routes that will clearly benefit from non-stop services,” said bmi CEO Nigel Turner.

“We also think it’s important to make the timing improvements we have identified in order to maximise their convenience and competitiveness.”

Bmi’s move has also been prompted by its continuing difficulties in obtaining the right long-haul A330 aircraft it is seeking. A spokesman confirmed to ABTN that “it’s difficult to say – we have been out in the market for A330s and we will continue to look.”

The carrier needs a further two long-range aircraft to improve its Heathrow operation, but it appears this may be some way off.

Bmi’s decision to acquire Bmed resulted in a huge expansion of the carrier’s network and had the effect of delaying any implementation of transatlantic services from Heathrow as a result of Open Skies liberalisation.

“The delivery of suitable A330 aircraft is a little way off and we don’t want to delay the range of service enhancements unveiled today,” said Turner.

“By leasing the two 757s, pending the sourcing of suitable A330s, we are able to accelerate our Heathrow growth and ensure we can maintain the momentum of our mid-haul route strategy.”

Bmi says its new Bmed routes “are performing extremely well” with strong passenger growth revenue growth.

The two Boeing aircraft featuring business and economy cabins, will be leased for an initial two-year period, with an option to extend.

Last time bmi leased a 757 it created the final chapter in the Manchester - Washington route. Suppose that was a tad different since you were crossing the pond and they actually downsized in aircraft type from A330 to B757.

However premium pax hate wet/damp leasing because in their eyes, it is just not the same!

JD and Flight level, how long have you guys been in the pool? I've been in since Aug 07. Heard that the pool is down to at least 18 now and possibly less? Also heard from an F/O at BMI that they are buying back hols... A good sign??

There's some chartering this summer which should stretch the numbers a bit so possible movement in the not too distant future. Wouldn't hang around though, grab anything similar if the opportunity presents itself!

I take it you are referring to bmi mainline and not regional.
Has anyone got any news on the Regional holding pool.
